Hello MWForumers,

I would like to seek your opinion on this timepiece:

Zenith 03.2080.4021-01.C494 El Primero Chronomaster power reserve
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4BVYix_NnM

It looks like a mighty fine piece with the blue hands. This falls under the EL Primero series in which the movement beats at 36,000Vph. Is the movement in this model a reliable workhorse, good for a daily beater? Hope sifus can chime in.

Thanks.

It's an excellent piece!!
According to the instruction booklet, power reserve is rated at least 50 hours, which is impressive given that it beats at 36k bph.
The minute and hour hands are rhodium plated, centre seconds hand and power reserve hands are blued.
Movement wise, I don't think there's much that need to be said about the base movement... tried and tested since 1969 with minimal changes... says alot about it's reliability.
Make sure it gets serviced every 5 years and I am sure it will outlast you... lol

I have own 2 iterations of this model previously.
Both in 40mm and 45mm... They are beautiful watches. Just not for me.
I am more into sports watches.
Although the design is abit different, the movement is the same EP caliber 4021.
Open heart on the dial is a bliss, you get to view the escapement moving in superspeed so to speak...

The 45mm is thick and chunky.
If you like that sorta watches.
Finishing is good also.

The new Chronomaster Power Reserve is in a 42mm case. I was having a hard time deciding between this model and the Stratos Striking 10th.  I eventually went for the Stratos as I prefer a more sporty look. I still sometimes wonder if I should have bought the chronomaster instead.  :)

My baby. It is in a 45.5mm case...so it is not for everyone.

The 40mm Chronomaster T is beautiful - 45mm is overdoing it IMO.
