Vintage G-shock
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:27:41 AM »
Hi all. This is my 1st post. Started reading post in this forum mid last year. OK back to topic. I saw a few forumer collecting vintage g-shock. Lets share here. This is mine. I only got a few. Cant match our big boss hobbit. I got this watch locally. Therefore there is no frog at the screw back. This is my 1st g-shock. A good watch to start. For me at least.  ;)

I dont know if this count as 1st frogman cos the 1st is dw-6300-1A & mine is dw-6300-1B. The difference is 1B is for export version. Hence there are no frog at the screw back. There are no data for the release date of 1B. But yes 1A is the 1st frogman from casio which release in August 1993.

There are no definite definition of 'vintage' in g-shock. There's only description from g-shock lovers.

"What is vintage? A good question regarding to old digital watches. I think the G-Shock series before the DW-6600, released in  * is a good bookmark. This was the first G-Shock with Electro-luminescent Backlight, released in 1994". Quoted from g-peopleland.com. * suppose to be circa 1994  ;D.

I believe the 1a does not a frog on the case back as well. Anyway my G-Shock collection is no longer what it is with many pieces sold.

Sorry. My bad. I thought 1A is for Japan release & 1B is for export version. Cos i seen 1A with frog screw back. Hence the confusion appear.

Nope you are correct, the 1A has the frog on the case back and the 1B does not. The 1C has the frog as well. My mistake.

Nice watch but correct me if I'm wrong.Aren't watches considered vintage only if it was crafted prior to 1983?  :o

I've always like G-Shocks but have avoided them cause I'm afraid the resin will turn sticky.

I had a G-shock back when they were launched, and that watch was accidentally ran over by some cars (the strap was somehow loosen when I was crossing a busy road). And lo and behold, the plastic protection parts came off subsequently but the watch survived. Now that was a long-live G-shock, and it's still somewhere in my old college cabinet somewhere.

Rolex | Omega | Bell & Ross | Panerai | Seiko | G-Shock |

I've never find G shock is interesting until i wear and own one. Till now, I use G-shock as daily beater, nothing come close to the toughness and reliability of it.

I do own some nice vintage G-shock before this.

Now two is also not with me .
