Dievas TimeAttack Chronograph - A brief review
« on: May 04, 2012, 04:14:47 PM »

R0011273

The Dievas TimeAttack chronograph is Dievas Uhren Technik's first effort at offering a tactical chronograph which combines excellent German craftsmanship with one of the finest Swiss automatic chronograph movements.

The watch proudly display the label "Made in Germany" on its dial, which means that a substantial portion of the manufacturing process is carried out in Germany. True to its German roots the TimeAttack comes with a very well machined watch case featuring Dievas's proprietary 6Steel technology.

The 6Steel hardening process provided the SS316L watch case with a surface hardness of 1300 Hv ensuring a scratch resistant end-user experience. According to Dievas, for the Timeattack model, the 6Steel technology is used not only on the watch case but is also used to harden the crown, chronograph pushers, case back and rotating bezel.

The watch case inherits the typical Dievas Tactical design with the signature straight lugs, reminiscent of the Kobold Phantom Tactical Chronograph. The lugs are threaded which makes it convenient when it comes to changing watch straps.

R0011225

The winding crown and chronograph pushers are screw down type with a pair of crown guards protecting the crown. The crown is oversized at 7mm diameter and is knurled for easy manual winding operation.

R0011222

The screw-in case back is also made from the hardened 6Steel and has a black PVD coating.

R0011230

The Dievas TimeAttack is equipped with a 12 hour rotating bezel which can be utilized to track a second time zone, albeit without the AM/PM function. The bezel is also made from black PVD 6Steel to provide additional durability. The 5mm thick sapphire crystal is slightly curved and is AR coated internally.

R0011278

The chronograph sub-dials are designed with multi-colored concentric circles. The sub-dials are of different diameters, making it easy for one to differentiate the individual timing functions. The running seconds sub-dial is the smallest of the three and the 12 hour counter has the largest diameter. Inline with the tactical nature of the watch, the hour and minute hands are sword shaped.

R0011275

The index markers, chronograph counters and hands are all generously coated with multi-layered Superluminova making the Dievas TimeAttack a colorful glowing timepiece in the dark

R0011284

The Dievas TimeAttack comes nicely packaged in a black colored Pelikan case. Inside the case is the watch with the OEM Nytech strap which is a kind of high tech water resistant material. A second waterproof nylon strap is thrown in for good measure. Also included in the Pelikan case is a strap changing tool to facilitate switching between the 2 straps.

R0011299

Apart from being Dievas's first chronograph, the TimeAttack is also one of their more conservatively sized pieces measuring "only" 43mm in diameter. Despite the 15.5mm thick case the watch sits comfortably on the wrist. Driving the timekeeping function is the venerable ETA 7750 caliber of TOP grade which is just one notch below the chronometer grade. (As an aside, an ETA caliber with Top grade is adjusted in five positions with an average rate of +/-4 seconds/day with a maximum daily variation of +/-10 seconds/day). The highly reliable ETA Valjoux 7750 engine combined with the enhanced durability of the proprietary 6Steel case hardening technology make the Dievas TimeAttack an all round performer which should satisfy the most demanding needs of its owner for many, many years. Add to that the water resistance of 300m and you have one of the best value for money tactical chronographs in the market.

Thanks guys. Glad you like the review.

Tyler,
I believe the Dievas brand is associated with Singapore based Gnomon Watches. However Dievas watches are "Made in Germany" using Swiss movements.

Thanks Derek. I used a Ricoh GRDIV and mostly natural light for these shots (basically stood by the window). Only exception was the wrist shot which was taken with my Nokia Lumia 800.

That would be nice.... but that's not the reason I wrote the review.
It's more for sharing with the other members here.  :D
