For those uninitiated, this route is the "not-so taxing route" as Mesilau is located higher than Timpohon, but slightly longer ( by 2 km, I think). The plus point is that this route is more scenic, and the trail will join the Timpohon route after KM4 before the Villosa Hut on the way to Laban Rata.
Just to add another point.
One will get 2 certificates if choosing 2 routes (Mesilau and Timpohon).

Yes, ck. Been there and done that.
It will be Good, IMO, to take wrist shot of all the MWF members at the highest peak of South East Asia and Borneo island. ;D

Yes, I agreed with Hanz on the cost.
That is a pretty good package as reported by ck77

Legs will not be broken. Just imagine walking up the stairs (but a wider path) and a scenic view all the way up to the summit except when we scale up the ladder in the early next morning where we couldn't see a thing at 2.30am in the morning.

Cool Pictures ck77 and dennis.
My last climb was in 2010, Mesilau-Summit-Timpohon. Prior to that was Timpohon-Summit-Timpohon. Both climb successful. Now am tempted to do the via ferrata course, but the view may make me shaking all over because of the Heights.  :o

Yes, that is the highest peak in South East asia and I believe right behind the signage is the Low's Gulley which extends to more than 400m all the way down vertically.

It's already 2013 and all the schedules for school holidays are out.
Some bad news... but still within repair.
As this is purely a problem on my side... the climb can still go on without me.
Having 2 school going children, this trip will have to be organized during the school holidays.

Currently, holidays are confirmed as such.

March 23rd - March 30th
I have checked these dates and they are all fully booked. (Direct via Sutera Sanctuary Lodge)
Do note that some allocation have been sold to travel agents to sell as packages.
So there is still hope here.

May 25th - June 9th
On these dates, availability is limited.
Unfortunately I will be at Perth for over a week during this time.
If anyone is willing to take over the organizing, guess this is a good time.

August 7th - August 18th
These dates have guaranteed availability as it is considered low season due to the monsoon rain.
Climbing at this time does not guarantee that you can make the 2nd half of the climb.
Like my previous climb, if it rains too hard, Laban Rata is as far as you will go.

Nov 16th - Dec 31st
This is the year end semester holidays.
With Xmas and New Year around the corner.
Availability TBA.

Kindly leave some comments and see how to proceed.

How Time flies!

Like Hanz, I also have 2 schooling children to take care of, but I will be held up during the school holidays. Only able to climb during the normal days, excluding school holidays. Sorry.

My comment on the dates for others to consider :
March 23rd - March 30th and May 25th - June 9th
A good time to attempt to the summit. Weather is also good.

August 7th - August 18th
My personal opinion for these dates, if you want to attempt the summit, better choose other dates due to the monsoon rain. Trust me, you will be hit by the torrential rain (maybe all the way from the foothill up to Laban Rata) along the way. And on the second day, you may or not get the chance to attempt the summit during this period. Reason - raining, too dangerous to go up the granite rock which made up the Mt Kinabalu range and cannot see where one is heading to due to the mist or clouds.
Agreed with Hanz's comment "Climbing at this time does not guarantee that you can make the 2nd half of the climb."

Nov 16th - Dec 31st
Depends on one luck as these dates can be dry(no rain) or wet(rain whole day) but not too bad compared with the August dates.
