Single piece case military watches
« on: April 11, 2012, 08:48:43 AM »
During the recent GTG, one of the guys and I were talking about the single piece case military watches and how do we go about servicing it. Apologies as I cannot remember who it was with.

Here are some pictures to show how to remove (not to be attempted at home) the movement for service.

To remove the crystal you will need one of this. It will clamp the edge of the crystal and you can 'pull' out the crystal. You need to be careful not to damage the hands when you do this.

Once the crystal is removed, you will need to align the mark on the crown so that you can disengage the male and female part of the win find stem. Sadly not all winding stems have this mark. So it is trial and error.

Once you can disengage the winding stem, the movement will 'fall' out.

The two part stem.

How the winding stem looks like in the case.

Hope that helps. I would leave this to the professional.
