ID'ing a vintage PP kinda requires a doctorate in archaeology, it's not easy especially for more obscure models. Patek in Pavi has a catalogue that only covers until the 80's. Anything earlier requires the case to be popped, serial and model number should be engraved in the back. If you don't have papers, the next step is to send in the serial and model number and request an Extract from Archives to confirm the details of the watch.

Of course, a determined internet search may reveal the model, but not always: I've hunted for quite a while and still haven't found conclusive evidence.

The safest way is to send back to PP ask for a minor service or pay for the verification, i think a bit pricey but in return you should get back a authentication certificate ;)

Yeah but the biggest difficulty is getting to PP Pavi when the technician is there haha. Tough when you're not working in the city and the tech does a 10-6 day.

Not as simple as you guys think.

PP Geneva will charge a min CHF130 + VAT, even just to REFUSE a service estimate of any vintage piece or Grand Complication models, by just casting an eye on the timepiece you send to em, without doing any service or issueing any certificate.

Extract of an Archives cost another CHF100 + VAT, without estimate, service or authentify the piece at all.

If the your precious is serviceable, then you will be part with it for at least a good SIX months for a plain Calatrava, & provided its a straight forward lube & QC, which will set you back for at least CHF700-800 + VAT. Complication model is anything beyond CHF1,050 + VAT.

We personally handed in our PC 5970P & Tourbillon MR 3939H for servicing, waited over ONE year before we personally collected em from Geneva, & costing @ >CHF10k + VAT. Of course, its came back like brand new, given some LE PP freebies & with the pleasure of meeting Thierry in person. ;)

ASC,

wow,... not many ppl who sends complications to PP would still write in forum boards,... haha,...
tq for sharing.

anyway, TS, how come no pic? identify what?
for a vintage pp, it'll be easy to just pop the case and see the ref numbers and also view the movement.
