"Master" Of My Destiny
« on: August 11, 2011, 08:21:53 AM »
This one came in yesterday.
A Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open XXT.
A behemoth of a dress watch that is 45mm without crown.
Beautifully crafted and houses the famed El Primero Chronograph Movement Caliber 4021 39 Jewels beating at 36000bph.
It features an Open Heart at 9-11 that shows the escapement ticking away.
Very beautifully decorated movement.
There is also a Power Reserve indicator hand.
Strap size is 22mm tapers to 18mm and guess what? It has the same deployant that I got for my El Primero HW.

Now I need some honest opinions.
I have owned watches ranging frm:
38mm (Maurice Lacroix Pontos Rectangulaire Chronograph)
40mm (Rolex ExpII, Zenith EP HW)
41mm (Victorinox Ambassador)
42mm (Damasko DC67, Seiko SPB001, Tissot T-Race)
44mm (Sinn U1 SDR)
And now this 45mm Zenith...

By looking at the wristshot, does it look too big?
Any other angles that pictures can be taken to show it better?
I am worried that it might not fit me... my puny wrists is at 6.5-6.75 inches...

From the pic it looks to fit your wrist just nice.

I handled this model once before and find the power reserve indicator hand kinda confusing as it is the same size and color as the hour hand.

How do you feel about it?

The Power Reserve indicator in in Gold whereas the Hour, Minute and Seconds hands are in Silver.
And yes, they are abit confusing because when the lighting sometimes make all the hands look the same.
More Wristshots...

Yeah, I think this is one of those models with quite a number of variations.
Silver Guiloche Dial, White Dial, Black Dial, Brown Dial...
For some models, the hands are of the same color.
The newer ones are abit better as they use a different design for the power reserve indicator.
But I still prefer this one for the overall design.

Nice fitting on your wrist.
With such a dynamic beats, wonder what is the power reserve like? I missed out the "bargain price" bit .......... how much was the damage, mind pm please?
Power reserve is at 55 hours as per Zenith's Website and the instruction booklet.
Anyway, after trying on for quite a few times.
I have decided that this one is indeed too big for my wrists...
It's is as if I am screaming for attention.
Anyone interested can PM me.
I will soon put this up for sale.
Damn... the cons of not being able to try before I buy...
Now this is gonna cost me...   :Blue:

Wore it last night meeting with some fellow KK members.
According to them, it looks good on me...
Since my wrist is small but my size is on the bigger side so it balance each other out they say.
Maybe I was wearing my ExpII for too long and the jump in size just overwhelms me.
But after wearing it for awhile, seems ok...
Will give it more wrist time to see how it is.
Is it me or is it the beer talking last night?
Sorry for the false alarm guys...

A note on the watch though, last night when I showed the watch to fellow members... they all thought the watch looked really good in person... at least 10x better than in photos...
There are alot of minute details that can only be seen when holding the watch and not thru photos...
I am guessing if a good price came up on the newer chronomaster open at 42mm... I would jump at it again... just to see which one suits me more.
Gung ho right?  ;D

zenith has many many 42mm model....
black dial zenith hv much easy to read....
The newer Pilot as well as the 36000vph and Chronomaster Open are available in 42mm.
Problem is I will only have pics to rely on as there is no AD carrying Zenith in KK.
Have to look for a decent priced pre-owned... this will be down to destiny.
But knowing my style, I will still dive in head first and think later...  :Laughing_on_floor:

Some ppl ask me why the title of this thread is "Master" of my destiny.
Ok... the story is the "Master" is a reference to the watch itself... a Chronomaster
The destiny part is like this.
This watch was put on sale on another forum about a month ago.
I instantly feel that I have got to have it... but that time tarak moolah...
Then I said to myself, if someone else bought it, then it's not meant to be lor...
But as destiny will have it, there was an unexpected windfall and best thing is, the watch is still available and the seller reduced his asking price.
So, snapped it up without any 2nd thoughts...
It's like the watch is destined to be with me...

"Master" of my Destiny.

I was wearing the ExpII and the Zenith was in my car.
Took it out from the company safe to take it home with me.
Not really a gathering per se but a buy and sell meeting as jonhtks was buying my watch.

There was an Arbutus, Lum Tec (HUGE at 46 or 47mm... looks comical on me), Maurice Lacroix, ExpII, Zenith and a G-Shock.  ;D

I guess it's about time we make one real GTG in KK liao... very passionate 4 people having beers last night...

Well GTG can be as casual as just mamak, good to see the KK side of the forum is having fun and the forum is bringing people together.

You now have the mission to recruit more members there :Dancing_banana:
