hi

average servicing 10 years
it quiet unbelivable -> believe it, lol
actually this statement do stated in the seller website specification on that particular watch,
it not all russian watch is average servicing 10 years, but certain watches,

and believing in manual or forum or website, is not enough, action is the way,
i do have friend in russian, and around the world, who are my customer and friend, they own such watches and those are WWii watches, keep by thier grandfather and father, all is keep and more then 10 years some, and what supprise you, it still move, and accurate

watch is mechanical, for me, it is depand on the mechanical structure design of the movement. have you ever diassembler the movement check for your self? russian movement i did, but swiss movement, lol not allow else void warrenty..

thank you for the explanation, now I know it is based on your own experience, to be honest I've never come across any Russian movement that's why I'm so curious about its service interval.

Hi

There are two shops at the summit.

One is at the 4th floor which deal with antique watches and repairs (not familiar with this shop)

And the other one - now shifted to the 1st floor near the ACE hardware....(I know this one)

Do not mistaken for both.

 :Scolding:

Cheers and happy hunting for your repair shop...

dc

Just to update...yesterday took my old seiko for service...but 4th floor Service shop is close shop for now...call the owner, he said the lot owner take back the shop...so currently no shop to work....still seaching for shop ....

If you are in Penang, there are 2 place I can recommend. Mr Wong in Penang road opposite komtar and one husband & wife team in anson road.
However I must warn you, finding parts for vintage watch can be a pain in the ass. In short be prepare to spend some time and $$$$$.

Hi,
Mind to pm me there address,
I'm from penang.
Thanks

I had a hairy experience recently.opened up my omega and removed the crown so that I can clean up the old dirty dial.when I tried to fix back mechanism the crown won't go back in the movement. Took it to ss14 ,subang and a few other service centers but couldn't fix it back.finally I decided to diy and after few hours trial and error managed to fix back the crown.didn't cost me a cent, sometimes it's good to learn a little watch repairing yourself.

If I have a vintage Tudor using ETA movement, would you recommend bringing it to Rolex SC for service or just any watchmaker who can service ETA?

If you have access to a Rolex Service Center (Menara Dion in KL), that will be my personal choice. What vintage Tudor do you own?

they check and told me that they dont have spare parts for it so sent to third party
they repair winding spring and complete service for RM160 now so far so good.

I got a couple of vintage chronometers by Bucherer. Basically using some vintage ETA chronometer grade movements. They need a good oiling including the mainspring. Not a restoration. Working but stiff when I manually wind them. Automatic system working. Know any trustworthy service centres in KL?

if Kuching, there is 1 vintage watch repairman in City One Mall - sent my vintage Geneve Omega there and the service is pretty good. Lets me know the issue, took pics of my watch after they open up and tell me whats the issue, then asked if i want to proceed.
Took about a month (i think pretty good since its an old watch).

I have not serviced Omega there but wouldn’t be surprised if they do.
