Rolex Air King 14000M
« on: July 25, 2011, 07:13:40 PM »
Well folks, I have had this Air king for the past week for now.

Actually, I was in the market for an air king for my.. the other half and have put through words to my dealer/s for look out for one.

Two moons ago, I have managed to acquire a recent model (114200) circa 2010 from my usual hunt.(this piece is for my the other half)

Then, about a week ago, I have another call from my (other) dealer and was told he had one pristine unit (14000M)  in hand and asked – would I be interested to view it…..whew…my mistake  I did not actually put words to cancel the (this) verbal order…..So how?...

No choice,  I got to tag along…half hearted to view this 14000M (as promised)…and hey presto…..I was sold.

This is a very pristine piece, model 14000M circa 2003 with box and paper, one owner watch, hardly worn…blah….blah….poison begins to seep in…this virus has no antidotes….help!

So, now back to basic……..

This is the watch…..

Air King is the simplest of all Rolex watches, it is also the smallest Rolex Oyster Men’s watch, 34mm case diameter for those who have small wrist and it is really comfortable, believe me.
This Air King weights only 92 grams (Milgauss;157 grams)

From the website;
Rolex Air King 14000M was not certificated by the COSC, for Rolex, this watch is very rare.
Each year Rolex occupies 70% – 75% COSC market, almost each

Rolex watch is the product of COSC except the models equipped with Cal 3130 movement, but did not compromised on its accuracy, the Rolex Explorer I Ref 114270 equipped with the Cal 3130 and is a super COSC watch.

On the Rolex family list, the 'older' Air King is Ref 14000 and the 'newer' is Ref 14000M, the two different numbers have big difference.

Ref 14000M is equipped with the Cal 3130 movement made after year 2000. This caliber uses the new bridge balance wheel plate, where Ref 14000 uses the old Cal 3000 movement with no bridge balance wheel plate.

Basic specifications

Model: 14000M
Circa 2003
Dial: Polar white Roman Dial
Bezel: Smooth
Bracelet: Oyster
Movement: Cal 3130
Case size: 34mm
Crystal: Sapphire
Accuracy: +-3sec per day.

Hope you folks enjoy reading my review.

Congrats to the new addition DC
Interesting Roman dial though 34mm is too small for my liking.

it is really a very beautiful watch.

bought one for my wife and she loves is so much that the DJ is not getting any wrist time at all.

the newer clasp and bracelet makes it weigh more "substantial" but also not so comfortable for my wife's case because she prefers to wear it lose like a bracelet.

but think the newer "psuedo dbl locking clasp" looks cute.

Anyway wishing you and your wife good health in wearing it

My wife's AK saying hello

Peter

No problem. Actually I have the final say, but then this is a very nice air king and could not resist.
Gentleman obligation, so I just take it.

Say, long time no see. Meet up again for 'yam-char'?

I reckon AKs would look really handsome with leather strap as well...

I just love the Roman numerals on a Rolex. Instant class. Are the hands WG? I think all Rolex hands are WG right? Congrats on a great addition!
