My part time job....
« on: July 16, 2011, 07:21:13 PM »
Cooking....

Cottage pie. Basically the same as shepherd pie (for those who were in UK), but with different meat base. Cottage uses mince beef while shepherd uses lamb.

Decided to add carrots, peas and corn to reduce the amount of meat used.

Cottage pie with brussels sprouts and mushroom soup.

Sure why not. Only thing is that you have to come here.

Today, pork curry with lots of carrots and potatoes.

Closer view.

Side dish of tofu with a dash of oyster sauce.

For desert, apple crumble. Basic recipe but change cooking apple to eating apple.

Naturally it must be had with ice cream.

Suppose I should have made the custard sauce as well, but the family were not complaining.

Let organize a food tasting GTG

No problem, just have to come to Taiwan.

Last night dinner.

Pongteh, a typical Peranakan dish. This is more basic with just pork and potatoes.

Must be had with Sambal Belacan.

And of course vegetables. Steamed broccoli.

Yet more curry. This time with added cabbage, on top of carrots and potatoes.Trying to make it a one pot dish. Next time will add tomatoes, okra and egg plant.

The normal way to eat curry.

The evil way.

I thought this is the thread to go to confess my moonlighting profession as a gigolo....

But anyway, the only thing I can cook is a mean fish curry (which is better than my Mom's). I did bake quite a bit when I was overseas, and I always wanted to have the best homemade doublechoc cookies. I revel in the exacting, regimented methodologies of baking.

70%+ dark chocolate used to please the olfactory, and mix of pastry flour+high protein flour. I took the best tips from NY Times' chocolate cookie recipes.

Cracked top ,crunchy outside, soft inside.

So, in the nutshell, the finer things in life does not have to be the most expensive or exotic item or place one could have.
