Have not had this on for a long time now. My 'first' proper Swiss watch. Got it a long time ago. This was not the first though. The first one was sent back to Omega because the minute hand of the chronograph would 'jump' when the seconds hand reach 1 minute. Waited about a month and Omega called (via the AD) and informed that they will give me a new watch as the movement was wonky. So, this watch is the second one.
The best part of it, I was able to track the watch by asking Omega about the watch. During the 90s, Omega was very friendly in giving information about their watches. I found out that this particular watch was in an Italian AD for 4 years and was not sold. It was sent back to Omega where it was checked and serviced. Subsequently sent to Malaysia and landed on my hand.
This one watch I will not sell. There are a number of reasons:
1. Got to love the Patina.
2. Got to love the 'star' on the lug. Omega had a number (250?) of watches 'tested' and had a new generation winding stem tube installed. These watches were marked with the star as it is Omega's internal production monitoring system to mark watches that has had some work done on it.
3. 2 sets of holes on the lugs, 1 for the steel bracelet and another for the rubber strap. Yes, 2 different holes to mount 2 different straps.
4. My wife has a nickname for the watch. She calls it the 'wobble watch' due to the famous ETA 7750 wobble.
The watch.
The 'star'.
The lugs.
