Mount Kinabalu Trip 16th April 2011 - 19th April 2011
« on: March 11, 2011, 01:18:03 PM »
Erm, moderator can close this thread if inappropriate.
There will be a Mount Kinabalu Climbing group on the above date.
I booked and PAID in advance for 20 people. This was last year.
Now, I can only find 18 people to go. All paid and confirmed.
So, there are 2 extra spots left.
I guess ppl here are an adventurous lot... I am giving this opportunity to see if anyone here is interested to join.
As some of you might know, booking for the Mount Kinabalu climb is not easy as most spots are taken by foreigners that pay more. This booking of mine was made last year on September!!
Genuinely interested people can PM me, e-mail me at [email protected] or call me at 016-8446448 for any info.
This will be my 4th time scaling the mountain.
Thanks

I'm actually frm KL... moved here when I was 14... my parents came down here to find greener pastures...
After I finished my college studies in KL, worked there for awhile then came back to KK to settle down.
I married a local, started a family and now I consider myself Sabahan... hahaha
Go back to KL once in awhile to visit relatives. Once in awhile meaning once every 2 years or so...

I don't think air ticket is a problem.
You can choose either air asia or firefly...
Either way, any one of you choose to come, I'll be picking you at the airport.
Since it's not school holidays... might get cheap fare too!!!

Finally got the time to update this thread.
Made the trip 2 weeks ago.
In the end, there is still 1 space left empty because of FFK... wtd? Have to divide the cost among the group.
Wore my Damasko DC67 with a bond nato for the trip.

Some pics...

Starting point at Mesilau Trail... 8.2km hike to the resting point at Laban Rata...

The height? Thanks to my buddy who wore a Tissot...

After 1 hour 45 minute hike... mood still all pumped up... clear cool weather... gods must be smiling on us...

Spoke too soon... thunderstorm came... yes... the whole package with thunder and lightning... guide asked us to take cover as the lightning is getting quite dangerous...

Rain has not stopped... fingers getting numb by the cold...

Can even see the mountain trail becoming waterfalls... that's how heavy the rain is... this is my 4th time scaling this baby and this is the 1st time I have met with such horrible weather... well... I feel pity for those 1st timers in my group.

Nice scenery the next morning when the weather is cleared...
I did not make the 2nd hike up to the summit as my equipment and shoes are all wet... down to my underwear!!!

Thats all...
All in all... it was a memorable trip with plenty of stories...
Planning another one next year... will make the necessary arrangements end of this year...
Thanks for looking.
