Cyrus watch preview at Khronos
« on: February 27, 2011, 04:35:21 PM »
Yesterday Khronos in StarHill which is the official distributor for the new brand Cyrus invited MWF members for a special preview of the collection that was just presented at SIHH2011.

We meet with one of the brand founder Mr Laurent Lecamp who is also the MD.

The brand is new and is scheduled to deliver its first time pieces around May or June this year.
You can read about the history of the brand and its ideas in the web link below.

http://www.cyrus-watches.ch/en/

The Cyrus line has 2 models one entry level and one high end.
The cheaper line uses a ETA movt and the higher end self made.
The movements for both were designed by Jean-François Mojon who won the award for the best matchmaker of the year 2010 at the Grand Prix d'Hologerie notably for his work on the Harry Winston Opus 10.
Kuros is the entry level at 9900 swiss francs. And the high end Klepcys is 99,000 swiss francs.

Thanks to CK77 for bringing his camera to take the pics.

Lets go on to the pics and i will add more info later, out to dinner cause i am hungry  :Laughing_on_floor:

CK and the rest, feel free to add in.

Klepcys line.

Both of them together. One red gold and the other Ti with DLC.

DLC with red gold.

Laurent explaining very enthusiastically about the brand and design.

2500 yr old gold coin.

Group shoot. Me, Laurent, David & CK77.

Some more explanations on the time pieces later. Others who was there yesterday please chime in.

- All watches are prototypes (90% working).
- Strap made by the same suppliers as Hermes.
- All watches come with 2 straps.
- They only use Ti/ Ti DLC or Gold.
- They will NEVER (strong words eh) make a tourbillon because Laurent says its not technical enough.

My lousy phone taken pics. :P

The shape of the double fold buckle is the same as the chrono case.

The red is actually paint and the method and formula specially developed by them. Guarantee not to fade from normal use. If not, replace free of charge.

Few other things to note about the brand.
- Laurent after working for many companies including Porsche Cars, Corum and others got some ideas from them. Example for the chrono pushers and buckles, he spent months testing the "sound" it would make when pressing it. Making sure every single time you use it will sound the same! So it sounds high class.

- You see that on the chrono models there is 2 crown. The one on the left has no function except for pulling out and let it snap back in to make sound when you're bored :P. Also when you pull it out (its sorta elastic) you will see the serial number of the watch there.

- Each model/variation will only be 188 made.

- Cost of producing the curved saphire glass on the watch is 18x more expensive than normal flat ones.

@Pete, forgot to snap the caseback  :(

Notice the ball? At first I thought it is a globe. It is actually a floating 3D moonphase!

Floating minute and second disc.

- All their design are international patented.
- The very same watchmaker who assemble the watch would be the one that service/repair your watch. How cool is that!

Thanks to Peter and CK for initiating the occasion and sharing with us on its exposure.

I am fortunate to rush in at the last minutes to enjoy the show pieces. Very high technically and complicated time pieces. It is quite an occasion and experience to view these exclusively at close encounter. Its a rare experience to handle a half mil. worth of watches in my sweaty palm.

Also thanks to Mr. laurent for his time showing us all these prototype.

dc
I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

Great write-up Peter and kudos to CK for the wonderful pictures.
I was there to view the watches but could not stick around to meet the MD, Laurent.
Khronos's Henry did a good job of explaining the technical features of the watches.
I guess we're pretty fortunate to have viewed these prototypes before the official launch in Basel.

Actually the series and brand was already launched in SIHH 2011.
They wont be going to BASEL as Laurent explained that he like to be more intimate with the customers and collectors.
Basel is too much traffic flow and too busy to have more personal time.

So for this year he will be traveling around and meeting collectors personally.

Maybe Basel 2012 but not this year.

You'll need deep pockets for these custom made timepieces.

Wow, nice watches there...I like the Klepcys line especially, will there be an opening cocktail party?
