I prefer this to the 41mm variant. So much more comfortable due to a smaller and slimmer profile.

I have one BB58 with the black dial. 1 year on my relationship with it is more like love-hate lol. I mean it’s a great watch but kinda boring at the same time

A few years on now, I have the same opinion as you. Proportionally it is beautiful but it looks really boring after a while.

I guess it also depends on what other watches each has on rotation. If the BB58 is the main beater - then certainly a good one imo! But If you already rotate with other favourites...then that BB58 may just sit in the winder. Happened to me. But I still love the watch - doesn't make it any less desirable!

Is it true that the we need to be in the VIP list to get a steel bracelet BB58 nowadays? I've been calling the AD every few weeks for the past few months, but still can't get my hands on 1  :HammerHead:

https://www.fratellowatches.com/sorry-tudor-its-not-you-its-me-selling-my-black-bay-fifty-eight/

while many do not agree with this article, I must say the author got so many points correct.

myself only find the blue Pelagos interesting because I am drawn to blue, the watch is big but titanium makes it lighter, the bracelet is the only one without the annoying rivets and comes with that innovative clasp, lume is nice (bezel has lume too) and it has a date. it's a great beater watch indeed.

now if only they made the chronos like they did before, the Tiger (Prince Date) chrono....

While I somewhat agree with this article. I also have to say that there are many merits to this watch. Watches are boring for a reason. And that reason is what makes it stand the test of time. When a dive watch is mentioned, the first watch that usually comes to mind is a Rolex submariner. The most copied (2nd most copied, I think the datejust is the most copied) and the most boring of all sports watches. Black and steel…how boring can that be? It’s so boring that Rolex had to start introducing a touch of colour to the watch to give it some variety. (1680 red, 16610LV, 116610LV, 126610LV).

I’m a boring person, so I’ll stick to boring watches.

Now back to the Black Bay…I don’t think it’s boring.

In fact it’s soooooo different compared to the submariner. It’s got a red triangle, gilt hands and minute markers.

The bracelet does not taper as much as the submariner

And hey…it’s true to its original design of having “rivets”

And the clasp is comfortable too…

I also like the slightly domed crystal. And the play of light when it’s in the sun.

I have a small six and a half inch wrist. So this watch really wears well and slips under the cuff of my shirts.

I wear everything from a 37mm watch to a 44mm watch.

That said, I think that the black bay 58 sits perfectly in the middle. A comfortable, easy to wear and best of all, no date watch. Even if I don’t wear it for a while, I just have to wind it up, set the time and go…I’m leaning towards smaller, time only watches these days. So to each his own. Some may find this watch boring, so be it…everyone is entitled to their own opinions. No wrongs and no rights here. Everyone has a certain preference at a certain point in their watch loving timelines. This is my timeline, my preference at this present moment. You have to find out what is yours through trial and error.

Most importantly, enjoy your journey…make lots of like minded, watch loving friends along the way. And share your journey so that we may all appreciate how similar or how different our paths can be.

I have the black+gilt dial.

Still thinking whether or not to pick up the BB Pro when it arrives some time later.

I think the BB 58 blue is going to be my next purchase. Held back a little to check out the Pelagos 39, but the BB 58 remains my favourite Tudor offering. The size also works much better on a 6.5 inch wrist than the 41mm Black Bay.

The proportions of the BB58 is almost perfect. The dial especially, not so much blank space. In fact I would say if it’s 2 liner instead of 3 on the 6 o’clock position it would be cleaner.

The case isn’t too thick, just nice enough to ride under cuffs. Many people seem to forget just not too long ago gentleman size for Datejust was only 36mm, and men like Mohammad Ali had no issues wearing a 24mm (?) Cartier Tank.

I prefer the blue over the black over its fauxtina, but I do fancy that red triangle on the bezel. A bit pop of color.

Agree with most people here, BB58's proportion is great, especially for people with smaller wrists. The weight of the watch also makes it a great wear since its heavy enough to have a presence but not too heavy its cumbersome.

Not sure why but I prefer the blue, maybe the fuaxtina trend is getting boring.

Also tried on the Pelagos 39 to compare against the BB58, it's got its own pros vs BB58 but the dial actually makes the watch a 40mm, so it wears bigger on the wrist and can be quite noticeable on smaller wrists like mine.

I felt they took too much away from the Pelagos 39 during the downsize. 200m instead of 300m, the HEV.. not that 99% of divers will go deeper than 200m.

From that front I think the BB58 is still the better deal than the Pelagos 39.

I like blue.... I like the BB58 blue...  but it can't beat the blue on the Pelagos
