Freshman
« on: February 06, 2011, 01:11:13 AM »
Greetings all fellow horlogical aficionados (forgive me but I just love using big words). I'm a budding watch collector/student who has alot more to learn about horology and hopefully I can achieve just that on this forum. Once again, many thanks to those who set up this site as many of us will no doubt benefit from it.
Cheers.

Regards,
Glenn

Left is a vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King from my father while on the right is another equally vintage Oris.

Just these 2 pieces in my humble watches so far, but they mean alot to me nonetheless. Any critique is much appreciated.

Hi Inxomnia,
Welcome to Malaysia Watch Forum. The Air King from your father must be priceless to you.
Those are 2 wonderful timepieces to have in any collection.

Dear sifus, I'll need your help identifying that Oris shown in the previous picture. Btw it also needs some restoration work done so I'd appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction regarding how to get that done. Thanks again.

Hi Glenn,
I'm not a sifu, so I cannot identify the vintage Oris timepiece that you have.
However from the picture that you posted the watch seems to be in reasonably good condition. What kind of restoration do you have in mind?
If it's just regular servicing and overhaul I would suggest sending it back to the Oris Service Center.

Danny,

Regarding my oris, there's some stains and dirt on the dial which also needs to be relumed. The hands need more lume and have patina all over. Plus the crown seems to be crooked. I plan to self-learn DIY vintage watch restoration so I thought this might be a good piece to start on. Any pointers and advice?
