There are several variations to Heuer Skipper, the famed Carrera case Skipper 7754 (TAG Heuer Skipper LE for Hodinkee limited to 125 pcs) , then we have the compressor case Skipper, Autavia case Skipper and finally LeonidasEasy rider Skipper.
This is the Late Autavia case Skipper. Bought this many years back just at the beginning of the Vintage Heuer rise from Ebay.
The story on this one is quite interesting, lost the auction but because the winning bidder didn't pay, I was offered as I am the second highest bidder. One of my longest negotiations I have done to buy a watch. We went back and forth for almost a month.. and finally deal was sealed. The man who sold the Heuer is the son of John Beery, a yacht sailor, wrote a book on yachting and a yacht builder.
The watch came with a nylon strap, which I believe has been worn for some time as the case has no visible bracelet marks. Case is in very good condition considering that these were made from 1971 to 1973.
It has a manual wind movement inside Valjoux 7734. Metallic blue bezel with hour and minute mark. Dail is blue colour with huge white blue red register at 3 o'clock. The early 73464 Skipper has Red White blue register instead and slightly different case.
Size is 41.7mm wide and 42.4mm tall . Approximately 14.3mm thick. Wears well on the wrist.
