Buy something else. The hyped prices are exorbitant

If you really just want a sub, then go grey. If you plan to collect watches, start off with cheaper ones to build a purchase history and one day you’ll be in line for a submariner.

I have my name down in a 'waiting list' with an AD for the past year or so. They have never once called

In all seriousness, my friend told me that the Rolex ADs now only sell the sport models to very close customers or bundle them together with a less-popular model purchase (ala rolesor Datejust). And while the submariner is great, I personally don't think it's worth the inflated price. Yet, the heart wants what the heart wants.

Seems like grey market is the only option for first time rolex buyer. So the AD retail price only can see but impossible to get  Sounds sad.

Most people walk in to an AD and straight out ask for a Submariner or another hot model. And some who do get one see the quick profit possible and sell it almost immediately. Can't blame an AD for not selling you one if they don't know what kind of buyer you are. With the limited stock available, obviously they try to satisfy their regular clients first.
