Yesteryear questions: 15300 vs Overseas
« on: November 06, 2016, 09:38:33 AM »
Here's some photo comparison of yesteryear sport watches - the discontinued AP 15300 and discontinued Vacheron Constantin Overseas automatics.
Both are good looking watches but which one do you prefer?

for those two I would have to pick 15300. I am not a fan of white dials.

But if I buy a 15300 I would look for the blue dial one.

Huge fan of the 15300. But prefer the blue dial instead of the black. The black dial is still nice though but I'm willing to pay a little more premium for the blue.

15300 in blue is my personal grail, so this would be an easy pick for me.

Understandably, there're lots of love for the blue dial APRO.
Imho, the blue dial match the 15202's "small tapisserie" perfectly. For 15300, I equally like the two other colours.
I may had chosen the white dial 15300, if it was available during my purchase.

For the Vacheron, the white dial looks like a more popular choice, versus the black

For taste and exclusiveness, go for white dial VC.

Now AP seems to be rappers' and rich China/Middle eastern men's choice.

To me, the 15202st > every other Royal Oak with the exception of the 5402 A. So yeah, if you already have that in blue, you wouldn't need the rest of your Royal Oaks to be in that color.

I saw a Chrono Royal Oak in Wing Wah. But unfortunately it (1) doesn't have papers (I don't buy watches without papers - at least needs extract from archives) and (2) yeah I hate that place. lol

Gosh!!! I don't want to turn my own thread into I hate xxx but I sure second your second point. I was there recently with full intention and bank balance to buy one of their offerings to only walked out empty handed because, I hate that place.

Between the two, I prefer the 15300. Not a big fan of dates at 4 o'clock. But my personal choice for both brands would be a 15400 in blue dial and the chronograph version of the Overseas.

Haha. Pretty sure it couldn't have just been me who was irked by them. I'd rather pay a few thousand ringgits more to get a watch at a different place than go there. I pay for service. And when I don't get good service it doesn't matter how much of a discount you can give.

Which is why the JLC boutique is my place of choice. Love the people over there. Very friendly.... also helps that they sent a fruit basket :)

The AP boutique also is very friendly. Gave a phone call to them and they were very informative. One day I'll go there for sure. You gonna sell that 15300?  ;D

Between these 2 models I would go for the VC. it is more sporty and sturdy. I currently own 2 royal oaks 15400 and the ultra thin day date with moonphase. They both seem very delicate for a sports watch specially when you compare it to Rolex's. My friend has the VC chrono and it seems quite solid.

If it were the 15202 then it would be AP without a second thought.

The VC Overseas Chronograph has a numbers of mentions here. The blue dial, big date, discontinued version happened to be my favourite among the Overseas.

I was once deciding between 15300 and 15202. After comparing them side by side in our fantastic KL boutique, I decided to go with 15300 for its more sporty built, and also, it fits my wrist better. While I still prefer 15300, I sometime wish I bought the 15202 instead, for its insane price appreciation since then.

Bro adam, I am not considering selling the 15300, but I am considering to let go the VC Overseas.
