Hello and welcome to my review of the Rolex Daytona in
Everose gold.
This is the Everose Gold Daytona Reference 116505-0002. The Daytona is part of the Rolex’s Oyster Collection.
The reason I purchased the Everose Daytona is because the Daytona is my favorite Rolex watch and I got poisoned by the Everose. For quite some time I could not bring myself to pull the trigger because I already had the SS black dial Daytona. That all changed when I went to an AD to try it.
My SS Daytona. I still love it very much. It's so special because the last 4 digits of the serial numbers is my birthday and month.
When I first tried on the RG Daytona, I felt that it is a different beast! It was so much heavier, it looked slightly bigger and it is so beautiful. I at first glance I noticed that the bezel was different. That weight and wrist presence combined with the stunning color of the Everose. It was just sexy, gorgeous, beautiful and irresistible. I just could not stop thinking about it after I left the AD. Subsequently I went to shop around for the best deal
and the rest is history my friends! Btw I also tried the one with the ceramic bezel, it looks very good and it is a great piece in its own right. The only thing that bothered me was that it was on a leather strap. If it was on a bracelet it would be the ultimate Daytona for me!
Me at the AD trying on the RG pink dial Daytona! This AD totally mummified this piece with so many sticky tape. Can't blame them after all Daytonas are scratch magnets.
The package:
The watch comes with everything pictured as well as not included in the pic the warranty booklet, cleaning cloth and a bezel protector.
The box:
The box is bigger in comparison to the SS version. Apparently the platinum version comes with an even bigger box!
The manual:
The manual is also different in comparison. The manual for my SS Daytona is the same as my GV Milgauss. Maybe Rolex updated their manuals.
My Daytonas:
It easy to notice that the bezel looks different and the RG looks slightly bigger.
Everose gold:
What is it? well Rolex claims that the Everose gold is the perfectly blended color of gold that would remain pink forever hence calling it Everose. This blend also contains some platinum to lock in the rose color. However I have read about cases whereby a number of owners that purchased earlier models complained about the fading of their Everose piece. I won't know whether it will fade or not because I only had mine for a month.
Here is a video that explains what Everose gold is:
http://youtu.be/KKgUzfwJplgThe case is made from Everose gold. The rehaut is engraved and the serial number as usual 6 o'clock and the crown at 12.
I know there are some stickers still in place
It is solid, heavy and shiny. The pictures doesn't help.
Different lighting different shades of color
The bracelet also made entirely from Everose gold. The finishing is just amazing.
The bracelet is solid, heavy and shiny as well. Sadly I had to remove 4 links due to my slim wrist. There goes a chunk of change
Officially the 116505 comes in 2 different dials black and pink.
I love both of them. For me the pink one looked more feminine. It is also often spotted on numerous female celebrities’ wrist. I also note that there are dealers that can get the dial changed for you if you prefer the dials from other Daytonas.
The movement:
Well the latest Daytonas are equipped with the 4130 Movement. This was introduced in 2000. It is Rolex's in house chronograph movement and it replaced the famous 4030 Zenith El Primero movement. When fully wound, the 4130 has a power reserve of 72 hours. Nothing else to say except for its robustness and reliability.
The clasp is the folding oysterlock safety clasp with Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link. This is the same for all bracelet Daytona models.
Stickers still intact here. This spot is biggest scratch magnet ever!
The easylink. I really love this feature! the only downside of this is that it scratches the link a bit. But that's ok
.
The lume:
The blue lume is the same as my SS.
Modern Daytonas are water resistant up to 100 meters. But I don't think ill go swimming or diving with mine.
The Cons:
1) very dangerous to wear in certain countries. Have to have it hidden under the sleeve most the time. Be cautious all the time.
2) like all modern daytonas out there it is a serious scratch magnet
3) no ceramic bezel with bracelet unless you go platinum which is big $$$$
4) there is a high chance that the wife/gf/mistress will want the watch
This watch is truly amazing and I am really fortunate to own it. I feel really happy when I am wearing it. Well friends cheers and thanks for reading
