Love your collection.
If it is not too personal, was hoping to get some insight on the following
1) how and where do you store your babies. (Due to the value do you keep it in a bank safety box)
2) noticed that you do not take on watches with annual or perpetual calendars, is it because of higher service cost.
3) and lastly, are your babies serviced at the specified intervals and will it be at the respective brand's service center.
Please do not take offense if the questions asked are too uncomfortable, it is just that I'm trying to figure out some of these stuff and a little more.
No worries at all
I keep them at home in a watch box (not in a safe because I rotate the watches on my wrist on a daily basis depending on what I wear/occasion).
4 pieces caught my eyes beginning this year and I hope to at least secure at least one of them mid/later part of 2014:
1. IWC Portuguese Perp Cal (WG and in blue dial)
2. De Bethune Titan Hawk. There's 2 pieces sitting in the manufacture warehouse and i'm contemplating and procrastinating because I just bought a HW. I'm really digging this. I've tried it on and it's fantastic!!
3. Omega DSOTM - a friend recently toured Barcelona and found a good bargain there but I chickened out because of my recent purchase (after exchange conversion - S$10.3K). Kind of regretted now that I didn't get it but since i'm heading to Cannes in April, I can check it out there. So i'm sitting on it now.
4. GO Pano Inverse with date (new 2014 release)
As for servicing - I usually send them for servicing every 4-5 years depending on my "gutfeel". And yes, it's definitely sent to the authorized service centres because I'm insecure about the parts that will be replaced if I use an independent watch technician. Better to be safe than sorry. For example, Rolex will reject any of their watches with non-original parts. In the event when I feel like selling a particular piece in future because it's not getting enough wrist time, then better to sell "all original" than to get into trouble with the buyers. It gives both of us a peace of mind.
I think having 15 watches is a bit too much hence some of the above may not end up in my watch box. Preferably another 1-2 will be ideal.
