Merry Christmas to all.
I just want to briefly share my excitement on receiving the best gift from my other half...

As the title here suggest, this 2 volume book consist of great wealth of information of a part of German watchmaking history.

One of my favourite section here is the B-Uhr reference watches.

The earlier grande complications...

One of many typical hunter calibre...

This is fantastic, the earlier precision chronometer pocket watch, precedent to the current Pour Le Merite tourbillion...

And some of the current release and masterpiece...
The 2 volumes consists of lots of beautiful photographs, narrating the the history and progress of timepiece and craftsmanship in Saxony, particularly focusing around Dresden. There's a complete section on traditional watchmaking technology and how some of these tools were still used until recently. Also, a lot of reference to other German-speaking watchmakers ( eg. Stowa), Lange's version of an improved IWC's Pallweber watches, and offer some insight and into the times during the war with great specimen of deck and observation watches. Many of the contemporary German wristwatches we see today can find its roots and precedents here.
I foresee spending countless evenings going through the contents and this is not helping in controlling my urge and lust over their timepieces...
