An unexpected find...
« on: June 05, 2010, 01:16:32 PM »
I was browsing in Atria shopping centre, looking for a place to eat when I came across a little watch shop hiding in the corner. Looks like a typical watch shop you find in very old shopping malls. Nothing interesting from the outside, but curiosity made me enter the shop to have a look see.

Something sitting in the display shelf caught my eye. WOW WOW!! Immediately, I was overwhelmed with the familiar feeling of excitement and adrenaline.

Check this baby out!

Do not be mislead by the plastic bag

Typical box. Hmm... nothing interesting so far

My first citizen!

Ta daa!!

Military styling, Camo dial, camo strap, skeleton hands, red seconds hand, how can i resist???

Called the Citizen Oxy. First time ever seeing it in real life. This range has been discontinued I believe. Not many pics of this watch on the web even.

Sticker on caseback with lots of dust.

Wrist shots

Pretty solid case

This houses a standard miyota 8200 auto movement which handwinds but does not hack.

Case is brushed SS but in has darker tone which makes it look almost like titanium.

And it has the signature citizen blue lume. Sorry no pics of this.

I had not intention to get any watch today as I just received one in the post yesterday. That's why this was so unexpected. Thankfully, it was only a minor dent on the wallet ;D

The lady at the shop (owner I believe) was very nice too.

In my limited years of watch collecting, this is possibly my best find so far!

Thanks for looking!!

Strap is not bad actually. Its nylon with a fake leather lining on the back. Soft and comfy on the wrist.

Truly a gem of a find, never expected that Citizen made anything like the Oxy. I'm envious!

Strap and dial motif reminds me very much of my first serious watch, a Victorinox Swiss Army plastic case and rubber strap watch I bought in 1997. It had green luminous displays which didnt need any recharge from external light sources to keep glowing through the night.
Bought it from an adventure gear store for rm150 where it was sold next to camping cutlery and huge hunting knives. That time Victorinox watch cases were just those cheap slim, transparent plastic cases, with just a simple slip of paper as documentation. There wasnt even a warranty card lol
Has anyone come across the name of this range? Would definitely appreciate it if someone who has the info can share with me. I believe it has since been long discontinued and I only had the watch for a few short weeks because it was wrecked in an accident.  :'(

I got the same model too. Very nice watch.... felt being a commando already. Haha :Laughing_on_floor:

Here's mine

I already made a review of it in my blog. The Miyota 8200 movement that it's used really amazed me. The rotor rotation is really fast & took a long time to stop when shaking. Not like most Seiko.
