i'm 1000m Sinnful
« on: March 31, 2009, 12:03:23 AM »
this is my 1st German watch and definitely won't be the last one!
i'm so in love with this piece because of it's material, size ~44mm and it's RED second hand. ;D
It's one of my favourite daily watch.
until today i never regret on my decision to pick Sinn U1 over Ball Engineer Master II diver watch. :Jumping:

The red second hand.

1000m diver

the screw in double locking crown

the sapphire with outer AR coating.

enjoy!

regards,
ck

CK,
Great pics. The U1 is one helluva diver watch. Such a great chunk of metal, as Cocobean's wife would probably say  ;D.

Hey CK,

How did u set the black backdrop for these pic ? Care to share with noob here ? it creates the ' infinitely deep ' background and make it looks like 'floating' in the void. Wonderful shots and beatiful timepiece too.
Too lazy to google and check the watch size , looks to me its 40 mm onwards , and the 'candles' type of hands make it stand out from other swiss's divers series. It surely looks 'macho' enought to serve Germans SWAT/Special Ops team well.

Since when ' chunk of metal ' become classic term to describe oversized watch huh ?  :Laughing_on_floor:

Alvin,
That's the Hourglass Tempus U1 LE, which I prefer to the new all black. However with only 250 pcs produced it's pretty hard to find one, even from the pre-owned market. Do you own one?

Thanks for feedback terry.

When it comes to divers watch, how many of you guys really wear it for swimming, water sports, snorkeling or even scuba diving ? Really interested to know.

cocobean,
all u need is a white tent which comes with a black, white or even colourful backdrops.you can actually set up the lighting to get the effect you want.A black cardboard paper would be useful for you to reduce the reflection on the crystal(place it in front of your watch to reflect the 'black' back to the watch).
i hope this will help.you can find a tutorial in TZ with pic on setting up the gear.:)
and
I wear my Luminox orange colormark and Seiko Landshark for my diving trip...Sinn only Swimming in the pool and seaside.remember to watch with fresh water after the dive..:)

Alvin,
Oh,the Tempus LE,what a nice piece! But i kinda feel that the all black lost the metal feel of it..just my 2 cents.. :-\

Terryiwc,
This is new to me,i have no idea Sinn came out with the 'phantom' U1 as well,it's kinda cool but it will definitely look better with the ted su black strap
by the way, is Bell n ross the 1st brand to come out with the phantom version?i saw hamilton also came out with a phantom below zero 1000m diver.

Thanks for reply , will try that sometimes.

I been using my ML Chrono for all sort of activities, snorkeling, jet skiing, canoeing , swimming and etc. It's stated 50 m water resistant which i should not ve it expose extensively to all this kind of activities, well its still working perfectly after 5 years. Wondering why those manufacturers having 1000 m water resistant on their watch , i perceive it as nothing but a gimmick.

I don't think it's a gimmick. The 1000m rating comes in useful if you happen to drop your watch in the middle of the ocean. At least you can then sleep at night knowing that the 1000m WR watch will still be there until someone like Dr. Robert Ballard comes around to find it.  ;D

But seriously, I believe that, in the long run, the diver watches with high WR rating will outlast dress watches with 30m or 50 WR rating simply because the diver watch cases are practically impervious to dust and moisture, 2 elements which are highly detrimental to watch movements. That's the main reason why I try to only wear sports or dive watches for any outdoor activity.
Just my 2 cents.

Yes, CK, I like the iron feel of U1 original, esp the red hands & prints. It goes very well with red strap.
