I usually do a day trip.
Arrival - chicken rice corner shop down the road fr stadhuy across the river.
Surely you know the place. Go before 12. Long Q.
After lunch - across the road fr the chicken rice shop, durian ice flakes.
Teatime - satay babi & spare parts
Dinner - bbq malay style outside malacca town. Near to river, fresh seafood but not suitable for fmly w kids. Leave Malacca after muara.

If you need the contact, whatapps me tmrw & I check if my malacca friend is in town. He can guide you.

Actually for the locals, they don't go to any of the shops... well some will still go to the one near hard rock. Most, go and eat at the one further down jonker street (towards tengkera) opposite a chinese school (towards pokok ketapang). The orchien (at night) is also great.

Klebang Coconut shake.. usually a long q awaits u.. the quality declining already i think..
Medan selera ikan bakar.. Muara Sg Duyung
Asam Pedas somewhere bukit cina.. better than the one at kota laksamana..
Pak Putra Naan~ awesome soft naan n varieties of dishes..

I had a short trip there in March... Would strongly recommend Aunty Lee's Peranakan cuisine. It's all about freshness in her recipe and dishes... Jalan Ujong Pasir, Taman Sinn 75050... I requested for a plate of belachan, and it took her kitchen abt. 15mins to serve us. But its worth the wait coz only freshly made upon request...

Hey
In case you like pork soup, I would definitely advice Chu Chap soup!
You can also find a lot of good restaurant on that website http://vibehero.com/malacca_city
I usually use it, also to find bars and clubs!!

the durian cendol along jonker street is actually quite nice - can't remember the name but it's not actually a cendol shop.

they sell chinese herbs and such but serve cendol in-shop as well
