As any true Rolex fan should know by now, the venerable SS Submariner Ref 16610 known as the Sub Date will soon be relegated to the history books. The modern version of the Submariner was first launched by Rolex in 1989 and has been in production for more than 20 years.
Come Basel 2010 Rolex is widely expected to introduce the replacement for the stainless steel version of this watch. I thought I would post some pics as a tribute to a modern classic, arguably the best looking watch ever designed.

Really good photography there Danny!
Looks like you dont wear the watch too much eh, haha.
I kinda agree with you there but on the basis of the Sub could be the most "copied" style sports watch ever.
And i think its the 2nd most recognizable Rolex after the Datejust.
I originally bought a Sub date but then exchanged it the next day for my SD, maybe one day i will get the ND Sub. Nice clean dial.
Something in me feels that a sports watch shouldnt have a cyclops hehehe

Great photos as always, Danny
Sub ND and SD is always my dream watch, not a fan of cyclops though ;) Will definately get it in the future if opportunity arise, albeit in used condition.

Hi guys,
Glad that you like the photos. Actually the date magnifier may seem out of place at first glance, but it can be a real blessing for a guy with ageing eyes like yours truly.

What an amazing set of photos. The Sub Date is truly a classic and the fact that it may be discontinued soon makes it even more desirable. The cyclops has its detractors but IMHO, it's become a characteristic that partly defines the brand.

Hi Nick,
The cyclops is one of the distinguishing features that makes a Rolex so recognisable from even across the room. However the cyclops is also a great collector of dust, dirt and grit as you may have already noticed from some of the pics above. I really should have dusted the watch before the photo shoot.

fuyoh...stunning pic...do you interesting to sell the anchor? :Praying: :Praying:

Hi collatzer,
The anchor is part of the package which came with the watch. Not to be sold separately :).

Im into Submariner so much, feel like wanna get one like urs..
BTW, ur watch photos is just so clear n nice, how to post it on as we got limitation of 192KB per post ? thanks
Hi danven,
You'll need to upload larger images to an image hosting site like Flickr or Photo Bucket. After you've done that then link the hosted images inside your post by using the tags (http://...image...url....jpg).
Hope that helps.
