Guys ..need advice...out of topic but semi related...

Ok ...i give in...finally i subscribe to astro...the temptation of F1 is too high....but with all the packages, i got confused with what the tele marketer said, and decided damn it, let me subscribe to basic package now (RM 39), and will add in other channels later...(the tele marketer were force to read the whole agreement to me end up i get pissed hearing all that lengthy agreement being read to me....so in the end i dont know what i signing up for)

I will get the B.Yon decoder and dish, and since i have 42 inch LCD tv, i think it would be a waster not to subscribe to HD...so i add in HD for another 20.00 per month...And they will install it within a week from now....but...

i just realized, would i get to view the F1 show without the sports package ? would i be able to watch EPL games without the sports package ? DO i need to add in ? please advice (especially those who has already subscribe to astro) because 70% reason i subscribe to Astro would be the F1....and by the way, how is F1 in HD ? worth it?

Thanks

ahh damn it...so i need to pay more still...even after i have already subscribe......hate astro....arghh...what to do....otherwise couldn't watch F1 at comfort of my couch....double arghh....

btw despite me not supporting tony on f1...i think he bring a lot of colors in F1...and nowadays malaysian is a force to be reckon with in F1...we have 3 teams related to our country, we used to have one driver despite not very good result...we have one hot circuit...and literally hot in temp during racing day...we have G who is very keen with the sport...and we bring in lot of money + drama to the support (i am not here to discuss whether it is right or wrong to bring that much money to the sport...i am big fan , more money = much more interesting event , so i dont care who's money is that) so.....really once in while bernie should throw something special for malaysian fan....

but bummer, the public still couldnt watch the sport for free.....damn u astro....damn u ananda....(in way i heard he is the main financier for tony in his early day...betul ka?)

Team Lotus buys Caterham Cars
27 April 2011

Team Lotus Enterprise has announced that it has fully purchased British sportscar maker Caterham Cars. The buyout has been performed by Tony Fernandes, Kamarudin Meranun and SM Nasarudin – those behind the Team Lotus Formula 1 outfit – and means F1 technology will now feature on the road vehicles.

The transaction in question should not be confused with Group Lotus, which is the name behind Lotus Cars and title sponsor of the Renault Formula 1 team.

‘As custodians of Colin Chapman's two-seater Seven since 1973, Caterham has been responsible for the evolution of a car originally conceived as a 'fit for purpose' race-car for the road in 1957,’ reads a Team Lotus statement.

“Caterham has a unique place at the heart of the motoring world,” added Team Principal Fernandes. “As well as being proudly and staunchly British, it has an enviable and uniquely unblemished reputation within the industry for performance, handling and engineering excellence.

“Caterham Cars has remained wholly faithful to Colin Chapman's philosophy of 'less is more' and the DNA of the original Seven can still be traced to the newest additions to Caterham's product offering.”

Tony will soon join ananda and richard in UK to remotely control the business in other countries, way to go

Bahrain deadline extended to June
3 May 2011

Formula 1 governing body the FIA has allowed organisers of the Bahrain Grand Prix more time to reschedule their event. After the season-opening race was called off due to civil unrest in capital city Manama, any return to the 2011 calendar was supposed to have been organised by no later than 1 May.

With Sunday having passed with no official statement given, the FIA issued the following, brief communication on Monday:

‘The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile has granted the Bahrain Motor Federation and the Bahrain International Circuit an extension until June 3rd, date of the FIA World Motor Sport Council (meeting) in Barcelona.

This decision was taken after consultation with the relevant Bahraini authorities and Formula One Management, the international promoter.’

- I for one just sat scrap it, that track is boring anyways.

but very unlikely to happen anyway....with osama death, i can only imagine more turmoil in middle east, if not the rest of the world....

Race is said and done.
Too much passing? Too easy?
I say its good and makes for not so boring "racing".

I feel F1 should move towards more mechanical grip rather than aero so that we bring back more true overtaking.

And how bout that Kobayashi fell eh? FANTASTIC !
Going from dead last to 10th to score points, if only his Sauber didnt had problems during qualifying.

M Schu to me now just looks like a desperate old man trying to survive.

I missed the quali but managed to get my Astro installed and working for the race day...HD baby...but cant say i am impressed....just so so....

Great race nonetheless....

You said it well, yes Schumi is so desperate, but i also want him to succeed...it is like a motivating thinggy for me...like the odd...hate him when he is so untouchable before, now love him when is so weak...hope he can at least clinch a win once before he put down his helmet forever...

komui make great race,i am not surprised....the undisputed king of overtaking...what do you expect....i suspect he got the kamikaze blood in him....he make great F1 driver...

vettel had too perfect race, not even contested ...so boring for him...but alonso and webber drama quite nice...also love massa, nice, shcumi, button , petrov and nick battle, they make good race...

for a reason or another, i feel like HRT , Virgin and Team lotus driving in reverse gear....but they manage to get lots of tV view , everytime the rest passed em....intresting huh.....

nico make great start eh...but too bad that is about it for him....

i would love to see Jenson to win more...and become a double world champion someday...i just like him.....

So what is next ? Barcelona is it ? cant wait .....

Alonso with Ferrari until end of 2016

Fernando Alonso has signed a new deal with Ferrari until the end of the 2016 season, extending his current contract with the Maranello-based squad by an extra four years. The Spaniard - who had a deal that would have lasted through to the end of 2012 - announced the agreement on Thursday, with the Oviedo-born man and his team-mate Felipe Massa opening an official Ferrari store in Barcelona.

"I am very happy to have reached this agreement," Alonso told the gathered media, including GPUpdate.net. "I immediately felt comfortable and privileged within Ferrari and now it feels to me like a second family.

"I have the utmost faith in the men and women who work in Maranello and in those who lead them: it is therefore natural for me to decide to extend my relationship in the long term like this, with a team at which I will no doubt end my Formula 1 career one day."

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo added: "It is a great pleasure to have renewed our agreement with a driver who has always demonstrated a winning mentality even in the most difficult circumstances.

"Fernando has all the required qualities, both technically and personally to play a leading role in the history of Ferrari and I hope he will be enriching it with further wins very soon."

Nice photo there, well Alonso definitely a superb driver, he is the one beat Michael with Renault car while Michael still drove Ferrari. But to me, I like Massa as the driver, even after the accident happen, he manage to overcome it and back to the track...way to go Bro..

I dont like Lewis Hamilton, no offense to Lewis Hamilton fan, just personal preference, but I do like Hamilton watch  :Laughing_on_floor:

Well hope some surprise in this season

Well at that era Alonso just had a much better car than Michael.
That time was where traction control was still in place and you can see from the start and out of corners the Renaults just is so much faster.

Massa i am still not impressed too much this season.

The surprise would be if Merc suddenly getting a win LOL.

Haha, I agree with you that the Car plays major role, but same as Mickie where he got the best car in those Era, I just wonder if both of them were to drive Ferrari now and race, who will win??? Same car different driver, fair chance

The big surprise if Lotus Renault win... :Laughing_on_floor:

Well what does everyone think bout Barcelona?

To me well done to Nick & Kamui going from the back and scoring points. Who says Nick is not competitive anymore.

I cant understand why Alonso couldnt win as he was on such good pace. I think Vettel's pit strategy is just better than him.

Whats up with Ferrari pit times? 5.7 sec change compared to Redbull who is always under 4 secs.

I think generally Malaysian's motors sport does not have much wide coverage. Take SIC for example. There are actually stacks of local races lined up for the year eg..Saturday nite race, drag race, motor bikes, club events etc., but we hardly read or hear about them in the main stream media.
We only came to know of such sports from car mags and occasionally a small article in the papers , after the event.

How would the Sports Ministry going to promote Malaysian motors sport with such low exposure. To get people to fill up the seats in SIC for any major event, they need to get as wide coverage as possible, which includes free televised races or even teasers in main stream tv stations.

Now, folks without Astro would not be able to watch F1 or know about the going ons in that motors sport. Soon, the interest will fade and SIC will get even fewer crowds.

I dunno if amazon got anot since I did not check when at the time of wrting this reply.

I am sure there will be dvd/blu-ray release here since there was official release for the movie. The problem is when it is going to release and how much will it cost?!

There are few place u can DL it using Bittorrent but the problem is the whole thing is in Portuguese since the version is meant for Brazilian viewer (It was first release in Brazil and Japan first a year ago before it was release for other markets if you did not know). I do not do bt here anymore and I was nearly end up buying a Brazilian dvd release from ebay too before I knew it will be released here.  :HammerHead:

I miss Kimi.....still hoping for him to come back to the sport.
To me still the fastest natural talent in recent times.
Some stats on Kimi copied from wiki.

In 2005 Räikkönen equalled the record of wins in a single season without winning the World Title (7), shared with four time World Champion Alain Prost, who initially set the record in 1984 and matched it in 1988, and also with Michael Schumacher, in 2006.
In the 2005 and 2008 seasons, he equalled Michael Schumacher's record of 10 fastest race laps in a season, set in 2004.
He currently holds the third highest record for total fastest laps at 35.
In 2008, Räikkönen scored six consecutive fastest race laps (in Spain, Turkey, Monaco, Canada, France and Britain), equalling Alberto Ascari's record for the most consecutive fastest laps in a single season and placing him one behind Ascari's overall record of seven consecutive fastest laps (which were split across two seasons: six in 1952 and one in 1953).
He was the first driver to win on his Ferrari debut since Nigel Mansell at the 1989 Brazilian Grand Prix and the first to win, set the fastest lap and pole position on his Ferrari debut since Juan Manuel Fangio at the 1956 Argentine Grand Prix. His replacement Fernando Alonso also won on his Ferrari debut at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix, setting the fastest lap on the way; however Alonso only qualified 3rd.
Following Michael Schumacher's retirement at the end of 2006, Räikkönen was the highest paid driver in Formula One, with a reputed base salary of $51 m per year.[2]
The 2007 Chinese Grand Prix saw Räikkönen give Scuderia Ferrari their 200th Formula One GP win, as well as their 600th podium (along with team-mate Felipe Massa who finished in 3rd).
At the 2008 French Grand Prix Räikkönen gave Ferrari their 200th pole position.
Räikkönen is the second driver to win the World Championship after being third in the drivers standings before the final race. Giuseppe Farina, the first F1 World Champion, was the first to do this in 1950, beating Juan Manuel Fangio by three points and Luigi Fagioli by six points. Sebastian Vettel repeated this feat in 2010, when he won the championship at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Räikkönen is the third Ferrari driver after Juan Manuel Fangio and Jody Scheckter to win the world title in their first year with the team.
Räikkönen is the third Finnish driver to win the World Championship, after Keke Rosberg and Mika Häkkinen. He is also the most successful Finnish Formula One driver in terms of points, podium finishes and fastest laps.
Räikkönen also holds the record for the most wins in a debut year with Ferrari with 6, beating Alain Prost's previous record of 5 from 1990.

But he has no choice, Ferrari does not want him, he can't go to Merc or Mclaren, rumor said he will go to Red Bulls, but yet to see in the new season, his ego is high la, since he already climbed to the top, how to step back. Now Red Bulls is the champion, perhaps a chance for him to come back

Just my 17 cents

I love that he is a no BS guy. Just go in the car and drive the socks off the thing.
Give him a good car, no one can touch him.
I was lucky to be able to see him race during his first year with the prancing horse and he won the Malaysian GP.

Who will be the best constructor at the end of the season?

Make your prediction.
(For me dun know yet, as the season is like a yo-yo)

Ya, Vettel has been consistant.
Even though he did not comes First in China & Canada, he is still in the lead.
I am hoping for the other drivers to win from now on so that the race for F1 champion will be like "yo-yo".

It's SV's 8th victory, making him the favorite to win the overall title this season.

Looks like German's Vettel will be the youngest driver to win back to back F1 Champion again this year. The difference between his points and Alonso at second place is a massive 112 points.
Vettel is only 24 years old this year.

Fight for position like a gentleman not by crashing into people each time.

I loved Button's performance, calm and controlled. Good thing Vettel didnt get the crown yesterday so the next race will be more interesting.

On a side note, wth happened there?

Ya, LH was behaving more "unsportsman-like".
Button was one cool cucumber, only his machine lacks the power and aggression to help him to win the race.
The schufle between the 2 photographers at the pit lane, IMHO, is to jostle for a better position to take picture of the F1. As both do not want to back down, a fight is imminent.

Yes, Takashi is right.
Vettel and Red Bull Racing has clinched the F1 Championship in the Drivers and Constructor category respectively. No doubt about that.
The only thing worth watching is who will take no. 2  in Drivers and 5 - 6 placing in the constructor category in the next race, India.

Last weekend many interesting sports event (for me ) - Indian F1 race, Euro vs Asia Table Tennis, CIMB Asia Pacific Golf at the Mines Resort and BWF France Open.

Vettel is the undispute King of F1. Even though he has clinched the championship, he still drove hard and furious to be the top "dog" in F1.

Cheers.

BTW, why were the 2 of them standing side-by-side during the minute of silence ceremony?  ???
Congrats to Vettel for another solid drive.

Once again, 3 past champs on the podium.
I think the next season's gonna be more exciting, provided Ferrari & McClaren get their acts right.
I feel Webber could be on his way out of Red Bull based on his last few races. Same car as Vettel but can't match Alonso, Button nor Hamilton.
Writing's on the wall, Mate.

Damn the old farts really need to give the young drivers a chance to be in F1.
Well at least the times he substituted for other drivers and in his short racing career he was still quite fast.
Hopefully all his years at Mclaren as test driver will propel HRT to advance more than they are now.
