Suggest that if it is your first mechanical watch, safe bet is to check out any Seiko running a 4R movement. You can opt for a Cocktail time if you prefer dressy or a multitude of choice of divers which are arguable more versatile.
Either can be bought for under RM 2k.
Save the rest and see how much you enjoy mechanical watches first.
Then if the bug bites, continue saving so that you can enter a whole different world at around the RM12-15k mark. ;)
Or you could continue to feed the beast and get 2-3 Seikos.
There are lot of forum bros here who are experts at Seikos who can provide even further advise.

Maurice, Seiko, Tag Heuer, Longines may suit you.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181114/5a91c8d4263444a8f4df20b0c537b015.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181114/b415ed5b00e22c39caedfa6075921d38.jpg)

Seiko ticks all the boxes.
All made in house
Rich history
Mechanical movements
Wide range to choose from (divers: turtle, urchin, sumo, samurai, monsters. dressy: cocktails, presage solar: Astrons)
Comparing with rm6k swiss watches such as Ball, ML, which uses non in house movement, make a nice casing and sell at premium price, I would choose seiko.)
Another good choice is Junghans (very original design) or steinhart if you are ok with homage.

Personally, I would suggest a Tag Heuer Caliber 16 for that price range. A really beautiful watch and demands a good following and resale value. 7750 wont let you down :)

Might be me only, but I feel that around US$1000, the micro-brands are a really good option even compare to way more expensive options.
This includes Farer, Raven, Halios, Oak & Oscar, Monta...
Maybe this is also linked to the fact it is soooo boring to always see the same GMT, Sub, AP and PP on this forum (most of the time looking way too large btw) coupled with the never ending price increase!

Try few of these Hot model haha.
-Longines hydroconquest ceramic black
-Mido Oceanstar
-Oris Propilot
-Ball Fireman Racer
-Tag heuer aquaracer ceramic black

Ball, Steinhart, Laco etc.
-
Preown tag heuer is my choice
-
You may go for ORIS. E.g. Oris Artix Day Date or Diving ed. Its a good watch
-
Try muhle glashutte and schaumburg watch. Both German made and its within the budget(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190201/2e8ad91f596ca05034d37b9dccdb8fd1.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190201/634b7d60c60da79450650cf690a44350.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190201/5003818617c9716297817c98e61ce22a.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190201/df0fe8a985f25e1417279b02c1dd9fac.jpg)

I will suggest you to get a Longines or Tag Hueur.
-
Nice IWC vintage...
-
for that range i think Mido multifort chronometer or a Nomos club campus though the former might be on thew small side at 36mm
-
I think you can have more choices in the used watch market.
All the best.
-
Perhaps consider a good condition and authenticated pre-owned watch like a Bell & Ross BR03-92 from a reputable watch dealer - 6.5K gives you quite a few options in the pre-owned market which can represent value for money. Other brands/models to consider would be Tag Heuer Carrera or Omega Speedmaster, depending on your preference.

For muhle glashutte, take a look at khronos starhill in Bukit Bintang, they are having a quiet sale. Can get a sweet German watch below your budget easily.

If can add on your budget for this panda dial... (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190604/35eb160e4aac06906b9326f190a1bda7.jpg)

popular brand like oris, ball tag heuer will come close, else german would be a very good choice
-
Are you looking at brand new piece or you are good with used watch? Maybe you can consider a used omega?
-
Try Speedmaster Reduced, Speedmaster MK40, Seamaster 300m 36mm or if you're luck can get a Tudor Oysterprince Date. These are my picks.
-
Oris brand have many nice looking sport watches at your price range.
-
Hate to step into too many people's toes. I would look at Oris seriously and if you like divers, then zoom in to Aquis.
Longines is so ... just another horse in the race for me
-
Perhaps Armand Nicolet J09, the NOS are plenty and within your budget.
-
Add up a little to 10k can get a preowned Tudor black bay.
-
Bell&ross
-
Longines is a good watch apart from Oris although many people prefer Oris more
-
Right now, I am looking at Oris Big Crown Original Pointer Date. Very sleek and good size. Can get below 6k.

Currently, eyeing one too, too bad i cant find any red dial in KL AD, would like to see it in person before purchasing.

ball fireman
-
Suggest you visit Japan and search for a JDM Seiko. Even at half of your budget there are plenty of nice models..
-
Ermmm, for RM 6,500 can try Tag or Tissot or MR. As above mention, add little bit can buy a preowned luxury watch too.
-
I will go for Oris Diver Aquis .. and keep the change.. You can get good discount out there on a varieties of colorway.
-
I would go for a high end Seiko with the Urushi dial, or an Oris. I think the Swatch group brands are often overpriced for the values it holds.
-
You can get a bell and ross used.Probably the 03-92 model
-
With rm6.5k, for sport watches get a brand new Tag Heuer or Ball, they are decent. For dress watch get a Longines, Hamilton, or Mido. I feel that Maurice Lacroix has lost its charm over the years, and the depreciation is crazy.
Tag Heuer was my 1st watch. :D And now I have expanded into Rolex, Omega, and IWC, and still keeping my Tag Heuer!
-
I reckon you could get a few nice Tags for that price.
-
For some reasons, i still value tag quite highly. Dont know why .. their design and logo just suit myself..
-
Hope you will be getting original one. There is a lot of scamer these days. Good luck!

I keep trying to quote the RM 6500 price at Chrono24 for some special watches.
Although I couldn't get any successful deals, the response are funny and kind of informatics.
I qouted to buy the automatic compass watch-Porsche Design brand with iwc movement that having 9 patents- result: vendor keep its selling unchanged at rm8.9k.
I qouted to buy 80hours power reserves 18k solid gold case Tissot Heritage brand new watch at RM 6.5k, the vendor allowed to reduced from RM 12k to RM 7.5k for me.
I will keep low balling. ;D

Longines

Tag connected seems like a cool watch to spend 7k.

So did you get it after he lowered it to 7.5k for you?
-
Personally for me, at 6.5 budget if rather not spend it. Neither here nor there.
I'd go 10k above. Aim for pre owned Reverso or Speedmaster
But watches are such personal things. What works for me may not work for you

If brand new, Ball watch forever, or Oris.
If you don’t mind preowned or used, Omega, Tudor and IWC (very old) are possible
-
pre own tag carrera 16
-
Oris skeleton pretty fit to your budget. A good brand which able to match tp your requirement
-
Or you can buy my Graham Chronofighter 1685 in the for sale section ;D
-
Hamilton watch looks good too.
-
Tag heuer 2nd hand
Aquaracer or carrera model
-
If dress watch around the price range, I’ll get the Longines as well.
Maybe you can have a look on frederique constant too
-
Longines Hydroconquest
-
Start with seiko 6R movement automatic watch, I think the price point is about 2-4k. Save up some buck first, I would say 6.5k price point can’t get you anything good for Swiss watches. The real deal starts from 12-18k price point, plenty of options there, omega sea master 300 diver as well as the Tudor black bay series, both of the watches are in-house movement and cosc/metas certified , which mean is highly durable and accurate at the same time. Brand wise, consider as entry level luxury watch. Quite ok
