Title: Latest acquisition
Post by: dualcarb on January 19, 2015, 05:40:36 PM
An unexpected turn of events led me to come into contact with this beauty. I didn't even think about a watch purchase this year. After unsuccessfully looking around Asia for this watch for the entire 2014, I have come to terms with the fact that I have no fate with this one. I was reluctant to purchase this from the online store without being able to have it on my wrist first.

As it is I was on the lookout for a dress watch that would fit under my cuffs in a suit. I was all about to give up on this idea of a dress watch and my GS would have to fit the bill when the occasion arises. However I did find that I was constantly yearning for slim profile, hand wound simple watch.

Then as fate would have it, I found myself in Mainz, Germany and I looked up the Nomos website and found that there was a shop within walking distance from my hotel. And they even had the 384 that I was lusting for. Tried it on...loved it. Paid for it and walked out of the store grinning from ear to ear like a boyscout...all in less than 10mins...

So here you have it...finally the Nomos Orion 384
My first purchase of 2015 and possibly last one for long long time to come...????????????

Congrats and this is a nice Orion. Can you show a pic of the thinness against your wrist?

Thanks guys, it is thin...one of the main attractiveness of this watch. Small in size but perfect for my 6.5 inch wrist at 38.5mm. Which makes it perfect as a dress watch. Also it's hand wound which is why it can be packaged in such a slim profile.

Thanks again guys...I have been wearing this watch and nothing else for the past week. It's so legible, clean, uncluttered and light. Just dissapears under your cuff so easily. Loving it so far...

That's a great piece. Am wondering if the lugs are a little long on wrist?

That's a great piece. Am wondering if the lugs are a little long on wrist?

The shot showing the slimness of the watch is representative of the lugs. It might look longer than your average watch' slugs, but in the metal its aesthetically quite pleasing and does blend and flow with the whole case design of the watch. It's in fact, quite elegant. They are 19mm lugs btw...
