Kinetic Charger from Seiko - Getting one
« on: July 20, 2016, 11:37:42 AM »
Been writing about using other wireless chargers to charge kinetic watches before:

The major problem has always been the correct placement of the watch on the charger (in my case, a Braun electric toothbrush charger). A hit or miss which can get frustrating at times.

So, I decided to get a real Kinetic Charger from Seiko.

Ordered one from Japan. Will update when I get it.

Update:
For the first time my package was randomly picked by Customs. Got to pay GST on it. You win some, you lose some....

Just curious: did you mean that there are times you get away without paying GST?
my understanding, you shouldn't be incurred GST, because it is Personal effect (importing for your own use) shipment.
not sure there is any amendment in the customs

Oh I See... thanks for the reply
So far, in my case, no matter in original package (new) or different package (old), GST is not incurred if I can convince the custom that the things i brought in is for my own use.

Next time I must bring you with me to negotiate on my behalf  :)

HAHAHAHA... Will definitely help a fellow watch enthusiast :)
However, I am not to sure whether has the custom change its ruling already or not la

The seller was nice enough to give me the 2016 Seiko Collection brochure and cleaning cloth as gifts. Although the brochure is in Japanese, the pictures were worth it.

The product box is rather uncharacteristically simple. The industrial looking packaging for the charger could imply that Seiko is not marketing this item to the general consumer (otherwise it would be much more livelier) but more towards the professional users such as watch store owners or watch repairers. Hence the reason why it is hard to get it and the steep price it commands.

Putting a kinetic watch face face down and power is restored...so easy
