In 1905 Hans Wilsdorf and brother in law Davis founded Wisdorf & Davis (W&D), producing watch cases and retailing watches in London. They coined "Rolex" in 1908. It was quite common to have the retailers' names on the dial and even on the movenments. Their movements are sourced from Aegler in Bienne , Switzerland.
Dunklings has been the major renowned jeweler in Australia and they still exist today. The case has the logo W & D.

h.chang,

Nice Dunklings. Keep them well as they are pretty collectable and is fetching good price. I remember some going for about USD 4,000 in auction houses.

Just a note, there are Dunklings not 'made' by Rolex.

Interesting history on the Dunklings, h.chang.
Thank you for sharing with us.

TheHobbit is Right. Dunklings was one of the early resellers of Rolex and these are quite collectable. And like other retailers who sold ROLEX in the early days, almost ALL of the Dunklings watches have some modicum of collectability to them these days, even their watches with other ebauches, apart from the ones made by Rolex.

Cheers.

I fully agree that not all Dunklings are Dunklings Rolexes. They are just Dunklings and they could have used other movements made by other companies. The square Dunklings have a round movement.
The steel watch has no markings of the brand name on the dial but the movement is made by Rolex , and strictly it is not a Dunklings Rolex,
The Dunklings Rolex Silver watch has a Dunklings Rolex movement. The smaller ladies' 9 k gold  watch has the markings of Dunklings Rolex on the dial. Will post a picture of the movement of the steel watch soon.
