Heuer Autavia 3646

This is one of many variations of Autavia. This is the first generation Autavia. Second will have compressor case and followed by barrel case Autavia fitted with arguably the first automatic chronograph in the world the Cal. 11.
This particular watch I have is generally known as Autavia 3646 Mk3. Since this is a 2 register Mk3 Autavia, it's also known as Andretti Autavia because Mario Andretti wore them. You can look him up in Talking watches on Hodinkee. Apparently he has 2 versions of this Mk3, both the minute bezel and tachy bezel.
Case is all Stainless steel at around 38.8mm, amazingly good size on the wrist. Thickness including the plexiglass is 14.6mm.
Bezel ring is stainless steel as some other brands use aluminium bezel which is not as durable. The gloss bezel insert is installed almost like a Rolex insert.
Inside this 3646 you will find the Swiss workhorse Valjoux 92. This watch was made in around 1966-68. With tritium on the Singer made dial.

Wonderful piece and is a real find on eBay. Looks much better than the modern Autavia available...
