Barrel/ cushion shaped watches seem to be a design trend these years

I know barrel/ cushion shaped watches are mostly retro design inspired, mostly found in seventies, when the time I was born.
With the following borrowed pictures, it seem that barrel/ cushion shaped watches is quite a design trend these years.

What do you think? And how do you like them?

I like the Seiko 6309. Nice turtle.

I prefer pillow or slightly more squarish cushion shaped case.
