Ha

I have a Ball but seldom wear. My wife has one and she wears occasionally.

Hers is the same situation as yours just stop. Shake it move a little and stops.

Give up and send to the AD as still under warranty but not back after 5 months.

You can tell me how great is Ball watch nowadays.

Best of luck

Yeah 5 months no kidding

The AD who sold the watches to us at Midvalley was once a top performer in selling Ball watches but lately they have excluded this watch from their dealership. Now you can see Oris in front at their shop. No more Ball at all.

ya right;no Balls! :Laughing_on_floor:

seriously, I find that most of the AD services are damn slow ( based on my personal experience with them).
You pay tons for it and get really, really, really slow services.
Hope there's some AD's out there reading this!

My 2 cents is you got no choice but to get the warranty on that watch.

And looking forward, might wanna think twice or 3 times before landing yourself another ball watch.

Good luck fellow MWF-ian

hi

send it to Ball since it still under warranty. FYI I just decide to buy Ball Storm Chaser Automatic Chrono. I feel  :( How come their quality perform like that. Sorry to hear about your Ball watch. Now I need to search more for automatic chronograph for under RM10k.

Before you send it for service, make sure you take some photos of the watch as proof of its condition before it was sent it (it helps to take them right in front of the person you are handing the watch to). I had an unfortunate experience of having one of previous watches scratched (not Ball) when it was sent in for repair.

you dont shake an automatic watch, what you need is winding a few times to kickstart it to move. Most of Ball watches uses the reliable eta movements, and shaking too hard might cause something to snap.

by the way, not sure if what i did was considered shaking... i held the watch with the dial upwards and flex my wrist as if throwing a Frisbee

not the vigorous kind of swing, just enough to hear the rotor sound

if its bad for the watch, i'll stop it, do advice :)

This is incorrect. The winding system in the 2824 is a known weak point. Winding should be minimised, let the auto do the work.

Pls read the operating instruction before you use the watch. Ihave a revue thommen that uses the same eta movement and i have been winding it before i wore it for ages now and nothing so called weak point has occurred . Almost all watch companies will state in their operating manual to wind before wearing.  One example is the ap ROO divers manual booklet, which advice to wind about 30 times before wearing. If there is a weak point in the 2824 , they wont be here for so many years.  It might be some modification done by some manufactures which could have distorted the durability of the functions

Yup, agree with you. From servicing a few watches with the 2824, i have never come across such a problem. Might be the seals had deteriorated and let in moisture causing corrosion. Corrosion often affects the winding parts first. 2nd possibility might be lack of sevicing. Swiss movements need constant oiling especially at the winding mechanism as lack of lube causes friction and wear & tear.

BTW why not get a Seiko chrono? Seiko makes good automatic chronos too.  ;D

Seiko can go on forever without servicing.
