Title: Bell & Ross BR01-92 Red Radar
Post by: bryanL on May 26, 2023, 05:12:48 PM
Good day MWF members,

From my personal collection, up for sale is the Limited Edition 999 piece, Bell and Ross BR01-92 Red Radar. This model was the first in the red radar series, introduced in 2011. Its movement is the superior ETA-2892 caliber, instead of the Sellita caliber in the current production.

The flight-radar time display is captivating and unique, when compared with the rest of the flight-instrument inspired watches of Bell and Ross. The sapphire crystal is red-tinted, with quarterly hours and minutes markers. On the dial side, it uses 3 rotating discs to indicate the time. The outermost disc indicates the hour, middle disc for minutes while the inner disc shows the seconds. This resembles a scan motion on a flight radar display screen.

Reading the time is no issue after you get used to it. Coolness is on another level - a conversation starter 9 out of 10 times. In my experience, 46mm of this watch wears comfortably on the wrist and won’t slide around, thanks to its flat 11mm thickness.

Warranty card is AD stamped and dated 2011. Watch was sent in for a full service this year at an authorised service centre. As of today, it is running +/- 2 seconds per day. It has only been worn a handful of times after the service.

There is no listing of this model for sale on Chrono24 and the last transaction over other sale platforms was around RM20k +/-.

Interesting facts:
Ultra-light discs had to be created as each disc weighs thirty times more than a hand. This is to conserve power and for precision. Special material and techniques had to be used to develop the discs, ensuring it is sufficiently strong to avoid distortion and minimize friction. Finally, adjustment is made to the nearest micron to ensure that the discs are constantly parallel during rotation.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230526/215cd95251e4e3b80cac995196930f1f.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230526/9dab3ff0a8e1f7b6ce4af557e3537460.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230526/66f11f9b1f74b567efd8bb9e4965af88.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230526/d7e20d03e5dfe3b0ca7336d1f415d3ea.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230526/362567537e7a8737adc50aa2f1c01e6c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230526/7a2a30086c3e45d236df94b393bd0bfe.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230526/6861e269e830554ec2cd8214acd41a68.jpg)
