Since there was a short discussion about bicycles in TheHobbit's watch thread, I gathered that there must be a few cycling enthusiast among our members.

would be nice to know what type of bicycles/cyclist you are/have and also to show off the photos of your ride.

for me, i use to be a road cyclist but since i moved the central of the tiny red dot and not having much time..i got rid of the road bike and became an urban cyclist. been riding fixed gear for the past few years. love the simplicity of the bike. practically nill maintenance other then keep the chain lubed, straight and tight.

nothing much to fuss about.

Used to cycle, now I am so overweight the bike shop owner refuse to sell me any more road bike, cracked 4 carbon fibre frame.......

wah that is one sweet set-up

my ride is now basically very simple.. would love to get another road bike again, but staying in a 41sqm studio....

my hands are tied

my ride:

IRO Jamie Roy Fixed Frame (urban relaxed geo)
Dura Ace Fixed Hubs (needs constant lube and repacking of the bearings but smooth as butter)
Suntour 14t rear cog
Gear ratio of 48x14 - going uphill is a bitch

No brakes...just pure brute force and keep on grinding and mashing

The only bicycle I bought in my adulthood is a Schwinn Stringray... always attention grabbing... sold it off when I gave up leisure cycling around my neighbourhood.

went to this one shop in Vancouver that sells only vintage and vintage only cruisers.

love the feel of it. the shop have quite a diverse clientele. Donald Sutherland bought one from the shop.

anyway this is my bike. An old pic. handlebar been shortened another 2 more inches now.

I still have my Trek pro issue carbon fiber bike (diamond frame) with shimano grip shift (24 speed), Core X clipless pedals, Judy SL front suspension shocks, shimano aluminum rims, and continental hybrid tyres. I was on my college div 2 off-road team. But I mostly run nowadays since my groin injury forced me into early retirement. At least I got to keep my bike.

yeah it's a Brooks Swift. literally a pain in the ass breaking the leather in. but after that, it's one comfy ride.

Yes, I am into bikes (bicycle) recently.

I was looking up at the Dahon folding bikes and then this Oyama came along.

Bought one with six speed for weekly sat morning exercise. That was 2 months back then.

This Oyama bike is strongly built with good finishing. Can easily fold up and throw into my compact car. Weights 11.5 kg.

Dahon is good but expensive.

I was basically a mountain bike person and now owning 2 bikes that are working: an older Gary Fisher Sugar II and a 2011 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR. The stumpy is one sweet ride! I am considering selling my Gary Fisher and buy a road bike (a Specialized, Scott or may be a Colnago) considering I do not have as much time doing mountain biking but can use a road bike to exercise around the neighborhood. The Specialized S-Work Tarmac SL3 is not really cheap either. What i meant was weekdays will be cycling around the neighborhood but sunday may be OK for me to join some buddies for a longer ride. Anyway, isn't buying a RM30k watch also an overkill if your purpose is to tell time only?

-as cheap as possible if it have such thing around

if you are not planning for single tracking or off roading...consider a road bike/commuter bike.

don;t know about the feeling... don't own a RM30k watch

Ya i am going on road but if got the mountain bike can at least go rough on road without worry damage the tayar.

Errr what happend if i take the road bike (the one with thin tayar) then go rough with it. I scare tayar pancit....

There one near my place selling ~~shinamo~~ (sorry dunno what brand but ...) bicycle with disk brake, suspension and etc.. Look damn quality but price also "quality" selling at Rm5k plus

disc brakes i am thinking for that price u are actually getting cable actuated brakes which are quite crappy imho. also most ppl do not really need the stopping power of disc brakes. hydraulic brakes are only good for heavy and fast downhill bikes..

contrary to popular believe the more u use ur brakes the more dangerous it is. a good quality vee brakes or calipers offer very very good stopping power already and less troublesome moving parts to go wrong.

tyres comes in variety of width and thickness.. there are different tyres for different purposes just like cars... tyres for every road conditions.

there are so many different type of bicycles to choose from.. try going to bikeforums.com and check out the different type of bikes to best choose the type that suits u most

Well said. I rememebr some coming to my wife and said why didn';t she put on a disc brake and Cross Max; her answer is - the set up is right for me ( cause she's 50kg ) and Cross Max, Disc Brakes are just not required for her. End results, Kick those guys butt up and down hill ( my wife lah .. me... I am the back benchers all the time... )
