So what does the star boy/man at the end of the movie mean to you?

What have I done??? totally spaced out, just finish watching 2001: A Space Odyssey...

A new start, a new being. Did you know that HAL is one character before IBM? And no they (Clarke and Kubrick) were not making fun of IBM.

Yes, I knew. HAL was the symbol of evil - note that amongst others he has one eye? I believe Kubrick was making a movie about the concept of belief in God, etc. even though he's an atheist. It's remarkable because it's based on Clark's novel, which is purely a science fiction.

Have you watched Inception? If not, I'd like to recommend it, as it's talking about stuff in the brain. ;D

Ah Inception. Have not watched this one. As for the gray matter, not much left, so maybe not a good idea.  ;D

Was thinking something along the line of blackadder or something

His movies are timeless...
Even I watched em now, I will still laugh at the jokes...  ;D
Another local movie that I remembered enjoying as a kid is "Bukit Kepong" by the then young director Jins Shamsuddin.
Wonder how I can get a copy of the movie now.
Feel like watching pulak!!  :D

Lord of the Rings, for bringing the fantasy to real life in a spectacular fashion..

Steven Chow, for making me laugh....at him, then at me myself, the world, the society.  His top 3 classics- Cookery, Comedy King, Soccer were brilliantly done

And for pure adrenaline....Bourne Trilogy...i also somehow like 13 Warriors......hahahahah

If you all watch P. Ramlee's movies past the comedy, jokes, fun and laugh, you'll find that there were a lot of subtle social commentaries/criticisms behind most of his dialogues and scenes, mostly against the elites/aristocrats/royalties. Strip them of the comedic sketch, and you'll be amazed of how advanced his thoughts were.

This would be more evident in his more serious films, such as Antara Dua Darjat, Ibu Mertuaku, Penarik Beca, etc.

That's another versatility of of P. Ramlee - his comedy are hillarious to the hilt, and yet when he played the serious characters, it's tugging at the heart dearly.

As for Bukit Kepong, since my first viewing almost 30 years ago up til now, I never fail to shed tears at the end of the movie when the station was on fire and the sad background music was playing. It's a scandal that they never show it on TV anymore on the eve of Merdeka Day.

I'm envious of you. Not been able to catch any movie for quite some time now. Care to recommend any good movie of late?

Manburg,

Can't really recommend any at the moment as I am trying to finish the following series: Allo Allo and Outsourced (new) and am pretty hooked on the show called Wheelers Dealers. Will update once I get back to watching movies.

Just watched the Mechanic yesterday. There's an AP at the beginning, and as usual in a Jason Statham's flick ... Panerai.

Had to do something to kill time before the CL final last night. Settled on revisiting the vintage Apocalypse Now, and marvelled at the 6105 on the wrist of Martin Sheen. I've had my eyes on the 6105 for quite some time, but resigned to the fact that to find one now is a rarity.

By the way, excellent job Barca!!!
