Title: New or pre-own
Post by: tancho on March 12, 2013, 02:00:20 PM
I'm thinking of these two choices:

1.  Brand new Ball Night Train DLC @ RM3,9xx

2. Pre-own Omega Seamaster 2531 @ RM4,8xx (approximately 8 years old)

Which one would you pick?

 :)

Which one sings to you?
8 years old watch is due for service anyway, you might need to add in the cost for that.

My thought exactly, on the service part.  Personally, the Omega sings to me but I've not decided mainly due to the age.  Any idea what would be involved in servicing the unit and the approximate cost?

Normal overhaul plus oiling, if no major parts change should be around RM1k.
You may call up Swatch Group and ask.

As ck says whatever sings to you - for me preowned omega, strong brand with good resale if you decide to flip

If you have decided Omega 2531 because of the looks and torn apart because of the age, why not you try to look for the replacement model for 2531? ie; 2220.

Pre-owned 2531 = RM4.8k + servicing cost
Pre-owned 2220 = RM6k++, but not yet due for servicing

With additional cost, you'll get the Omega with the Co-Axial movement. Cosmetically, more or less the same.
