Audemars Piguet ROO Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
« on: June 07, 2013, 09:17:22 PM »
Just thought of sharing the final (I hope!!!) installment in my quest to collect AP ROOs
Had the opportunity to get this "rare bird" from a very good friend

It's an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Perpetual Calendar in Titanium
Excuse the poor quality I-phone picture. Couldn't resist the excitement
More pictures to come....

Just Perpetual Chronograph no "Annual" in between. Annual Calendar is another thing altogether

Here's a basic rundown. (Typical date adjustment for mechanical wristwatch)

Simple Calendar: Require 5 adjustment in a year.
specifically on
Feb 28/29 to Mar 1,
April 30 to May 1,
June 30 to July 1,
Sep 30 to 1 Oct and
Nov 30 to Dec 1

Annual Calendar
: Require only 1 adjustment in a year, Feb 28/29 to Mar 1. It knows to jump from 30th to 1st if is on those shorter month.

Perpetual Calendar: No adjustment needed as in recognize all the months and leap year.

Tyler

Hmm, if I'm not mistaken the perpetual calendar will need correction in the year 2100 because it won't be a leap year that year.

Thank you Mr Tyler.

So now I'm confused, what does the Perpetual actually means on a Rolex?

In Rolex's terms, perpetual simply mean self-winding.
