Ingland
« on: July 24, 2012, 11:33:15 PM »
It's convocation time in UK, so took short holiday whilst there. Met many other parents on the way up and down too. The trip was 2 weeks ago. Hope the pixs don't bore.

Howszat for starters, got upgraded as flight up was overbooked on the new A380!

Biz class is fantastic and the service superb.

Popcorn anyone?

Arriving in style.

Inglish brekkie, not up to par with Chrisyen's foodie adventures.

Olympic stadium view from Stratford Westfield.

Stratford centre.

Went for a play.

The stage and props.

Arrest me and body search!

Olympic torch run thru Maidenhead/Windsor.

Torch bearers who ran earlier. Recognize the fluffy haired El Pibe?

Standby torches.

Queen was in to receive the torch.

Windsor.

Old stones left in a field.

Wonder who and why they left them here.

10 mins to closing in prep for Fire Garden night in conjunction with London Festival 2012. By invitation only. Nope me wasn't invited.

Fire Garden feature together with props seen in previous pixs. These will be lit at 9pm onwards.

BBC live broadcast. Props in background will be lit too.

We then drove up to the Northwest to visit some old friends.

Tulips from the onboard SatNav.

The next 2 homes were featured in the movie ' Nowhere Boy'

This was where they became a sensation.

The pilgrimage.

No we didn't take a tour here, but a detour.

And onwards to the holy waters.

Met another old friend. May the force be with you all.

Windermere

After the holy waters, we spend the night at some black waters.

Blackpool.

And as the sun sets, the windmills at the windfarm wave goodbye.

No need to always quote the pics again.

No one likes to load the SAME pic again and again

Nice to see the interior of the A380. Looks good. Sadly I left before it came into operation. Personally I still prefer the B744.

Then the convocation thingy was explained. Anyway, nice to see the interior of the A380. Looks very good. Business class - you lucky "devil".

The opening.

From where I was, this was all I could see of the Red Arrows.

The crowd building up earlier on.

It was a disappointing outing for me and friends. Trains were packed. The periphery of the Stadium and surrounds were out of bounds for those without a permit or tickets. Even access to Westfield centre was cordoned off. From a dis 'vantage' view on a pedestrian overpass, I took some photos and headed back to our hotel shortly after 007 and the Queen bailed out of a chopper. Watched the rest on the idiot box after a 2 hour disrupted train ride back. Faulty signals on the underground. :Scolding:
