Las Vegas, Nevada - May 28-29, 2012
Dear Readers,
we are happy to tell you about a new interesting experience that we just lived in Las Vegas: the IWJG ( The International Watch and Jewelry Guild ), the world's most active central exchange for buying, selling and trading collectable watches and jewelry.
Dealers from all over the world attend these events, which take place once a month in different cities in USA.
The last edition of the IWJG took place at the Tropicana Hotel of Las Vegas, on May 28th and 29th and Mondani Editore, thanks to a new collaboration with this association, had the possibility to present the upcoming book Rolex Daytona Story.
We also exhibited some of the main titles of our catalogue: Rolex Submariner Story, Collecting Rolex GMT-Master and Collecting Rolex Milgauss, Turn-O-Graph, Yacht-Master, Explorer.
This was the very first time that Mondani Editore went overseas to promote its books and we are extremely happy with the result: Americans loved our editions
and in the next shows we will certainly bring more titles !!
The title which achieved the biggest success was Rolex Daytona Story, but people liked very much Collecting Rolex Milgauss, Turn-O-Graph, Yacht-Master, Explorer too.
A lot of interest for Rolex Submariner Story and 100 Years of Rolex too.
Hundres of tables and thousands of dealers who sold, bought and exchanged fine watches and diamonds. A lot of jewels and timepieces, in particular modern and vintage Rolexes.
The thing we appreciated most has been the hospitality and the perfect organization (which is typical of the Americans and not very common in Italy..).
I have to admit the the trip was very long, but it was worthy to attend the show
After 17 hours flying, we finally got to La Vegas and luckily we had time to visit the city on Sunday (and we did not even loose one $ at the casino
)
After lots of shopping and pictures we went to the pre-registration of the show where we met Joe Nelson, organizer of the event, who showed us our table.
Monday morning: let's start this adventure
A bit shiny, we started to meet some dealers who came to our table to see our books. No-stop from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. People loved the books
The presence of Osvaldo Patrizzi, one of the most important people in the horological world and co-author of Rolex Daytona Story together with Guido Mondani, certainly increased the interest for this new special edition, coming out in September.
A break at the Hard Rock Café, few hours sleeping (terrible jet leg!!) and we started again on Tuesday, with even higher rhythms !
It was so pleasant to see how prestigious dealers of New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and many other important cities, appreciated the beauty and completeness of the Mondani's Books and, in particular, understood the huge work which is behind the realization of every single page.
After many years of telephonic partnership, we finally met some "historical clients" such as Fourtané, Aaron Faber, Worldly Watches and many more; we found old friends- clients such as Isami Shiroma and Bob Maron, and we knew some new clients such as TuscanyRose from New York, Wanna Buy a Watch from Los Angeles, Estate and Jewelry Buyers, Time Collector (all of them are fantastic people!) and many more.
At this point we look forward to attending the New York October show, where the book Rolex Daytona Story will be finally available
