Title: China ZhangJiaJie Trip
Post by: Alvin-8880 on April 14, 2012, 08:24:23 PM
Was in ZhangJiaJie last month after hearing so much about this place, especially after the movie Avatar, which was shot there.

This trip cover different places along the journey, ChangSha, Ancient City of Phoenix, FuRong Town, and of course ZhangJiaJie.

2 cameras were used during this trip ie. Lumix FZ150 & Olympus XZ-1.

Enjoy !

wow.. great scenery and what a cable car ride. how long was the route, how high did it go and how much time did it take? i think for those with a fear of heights, it must be a terrifying experience.

dpkong, the cable car ride is around 30 minutes literally from city centre to the highest point of 1520 meters. I wonder how those cable poles were built considering the steep & narrow terrain. Scary ride, man ! I dare not look down, just focus in taking photos.

hope they wash the cars often. i wonder if it smells of pee? 30 mins is a long ride for the weak hearts. and with so many vertical slopes, it must be swaying a lot in the wind!!

Thx 5iu, Angryrodent & David.

The 30-min cable car starts the journey with view of roofs (buildings), villages, bushes & trees, then the hills... the gradient goes higher & steeper, then out of a sudden went up up & up, your heart go down down & down... :Praying:

If u choose to walk the staircase (2000+ steps), it will take u 2.5 hours 1 way up. As with the road... it will be more scary, I guess, with the road cutting so near to the edge.

This place is like the Grand Canyon but with beautiful greens instead of barren dessert. Just like what u see in Avatar.

No gloomis, there wasn't any long Q. Perhaps we were lucky on that day. I guess it all depends on season e.g. July & Aug are peak seasons for local tourist, hence advisable not to visit China during this 2 months.

When we were younger, we had the time but not enough money to travel. Nowadays, we have a bit more money, but not enough time. When we retire, we have the time and (hopefully) the money, but our legs and lungs would let us down.  :Blue:

I showed Alvin's pics to my wife and wow!!!! she was immediately keen to see ZJJ also. Will be making a trip there at the end of May and early June.
