Vintage VDB 2011
« on: June 23, 2012, 12:14:52 PM »
while german high end brand like lange, GO, chronoswiss is going extreme to show off their fine watch making....

those who cant compete on that is going to show its technology, hardened tech.... u have sinn and damasko leading in that extreme...

while other lower end brand still buying china make cases and GORENG its pilot and marine design....
i need not mention the brand name here.... its dozen!!!

ever since i liked the vintage vdb page in FB after getting know this brand in a watch blog... i was simply stunned everyday by its very vintage feel looking timepieces

here r some photos of the watches.....

the overall watch

the front

massive chunk of german steel
the very vintage rolex way of making its dial.... with vintage color lume
the bezel is same steel, but polished to mirror finish.... sexy touch

the back

the lovely caseback engraving....

the thickness

the caseback is thick.... its well considered.... the help to sit well on your wrist at comfort

the crown

screw in crown for good water ar

u can see the nice dome sapphire crystal..... but making me hard to snap the photo

buckle

it come with a german steel signed giant buckle.... biggest i ever have

see.... but the curve make it sit well and comfort

the strap

strap is wide... 28mm wide
thick and soft....
well made...

packaging

simple packaging... a small travel case with a warranty card
no nonsense, price reflected this

another 2 angles

this is the production series of vdb.... 200 made, fitted with nos eta 2873
the gmt hand is jus extent from the hour hand, with the 12 hour rotatable bezel, it works without adding too much mechanism to the movement.... genius!

certainly well made watch, my view
design - like it or hate it, i like it 10/10
comfort - even though it is big n heavy but it sit well 9/10
finishing - watch case bezel.... 9/10
              dial 8/10
bezel lume 6/10 too handy feel.... not so even
packaging - 5/10 i dont expect for the price i paid
price vs value - 10/10 if u compare with those common brand.... no match!

so i will say this is a very small brand from german that going to vintage hand feel design instead of technology and find movement decoration....

Boy do that watch look ugly in photo.

Despite it's funny look this is one serious watch. Workmanship is stunning. The watch ooze quality despite it's "handmade".

I might hate its looks but I can't say this a badly made watch.

Congratulation, Chris

Tyler

The handmade part is definitely better than Ennebi from the pics.
Ennebi is just rough! But maybe thats its allure.

Love the design, but not the super wide strap and buckle.
But i will reserve this comment until i see you and feel it for myself.

Watch looks pretty good... buckle looks humongous though... a little out of proportion...

the feeling to the watch is very personal. If you ask me i might not considering having a pcs of this but no doubt the workmanship is so much better than alot of others brand.

I must say thank you to Chris for the lunch and sharing the watch with me.

yeah... its solid... but not actually over weight or too thick

here is the dimension
43mm x 52mm x 18mm

43 wide is still decent size to many especially for a divers
52 in length without lug is wearable to most... even our gigiplastic can carry it n sit well on his wrist!
18 is not too thick as well

it is lighter than alot of ball and dssd....
if u change to a thinner 28 /24 strap.... with a new buckle... it gonna look perfect for a small wrist guy
