Missing my Sinn : Build Quality Issues...
« on: February 28, 2010, 07:13:44 PM »
Happily wearing my Sinn one fine day.. took a glance on my wrist to check the time. Something look amiss.... something missing.. took a closer look. The bloody 12 o'clock lume marker in the bezel dropped off.

I've read horror stories about Sinn's buld quality all over the net but just brushed it off as an unlucky buyer of a lemon. guess i bought a key lime pie in mine; slightly tart but still good. So keeping my fingers crossed nothing major aka no more trolls/gremlins.

Sent it to THG. Forgot to take a photo to show all you guys here.

Anyone here having issues with their Sinn?

Sorry to hear that. I thought the marker was  "welded" into the bezel. After hearing ur story, I reckon the marker is glued to the bezel. Is it the black sinn u bought from HQ?

How old is the watch?

Do you do any sports or heavy duty wrist shaking?

Sorry to hear bout it man...hope they give you a new dial and not just "glue" the marker back.

wah how "heavy" of a "wrist shaking" does it take to shake off a lume marker? :Laughing_on_floor:

i kept the lume marker.... they better not jsut glue it in (i hope :P:Mad:

dunno if THG would get the replacement part and do the servicing in SG or send the whole thing back to frankfurt. if it;s the latter...maybe i cna go down to Sinn and check on it.

Since you might be going to Sinn factory might as well bring it in there.
Can directly get support from the HQ.

BTW is it the one you bought when you were visiting the factory before?

you'll find a lot of old vintage IWC pocket watches...you can actually get the watch maker to convert it into a watch...

http://rolexblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/beyer-jewelers-museum-celebrating-250.html

too bad this post came a few days too late. passed by this shop and thought nothing much about it. Looks like another Wempe or Bucherer (german version of our Sincere and THG)

if i knew any better i would certainly pay the admission fee to their museum.

well next time then.....

not cheap especially with the strength of the Swiss Franc and also their overhead is astronomical.

but although i have not spoken to those europeans but i do find that the Swiss and Germans like their Omegas more while the Italians love their Rolex. This is purely through observation from the ppl around the street.

Maybe if i go to the French speaking part of Switzerland i might spot more Rolexes? who knows. maybe someone can confirm.

just got a call from THG.

they bloody wnat me to pay SGD50 to replace the bezel because it's considered as an external defect and is not covered under warranty.

 I was like WTF??!!!!

this is clearly not a fault of mine and definitely a manufacturing defect. so why should i pay to get it replaced?

the marker sits flushed to the bezel and no amount of scratches would dislodge the thing. unless they did not apply/glue the marker securely themselves.

read on WUS and it seems like this is not uncommon.

i e-mailed Sinn directly and is awaiting their reply.

so the saga continues........

1 the bezel doesnt align with dial
1 crystal is scratched inner side
1 screw in crown is rough n hv weird sound when u screw in....

That's really pissed off. For the price we paid, I would expect the marker to be fused with the bezel and lasted as long as the bezel itself. This is clearly poor QC. Sinn need to buckle up before putting out PAM (as Chris mentioned) price for it
