lemania 5100 experience
« on: July 23, 2009, 07:42:44 PM »
any1 handle a lemania 5100 before?

through some reading... some watchmaker like it because of it is very easy to repair... everything power direct from the center wheel...

then its shock resistant is the best....

but some watch maker like chronoswiss gerard lang... do not like it...

what ever it is... it no longer in production.... after purchased by swatch...

the best looking lemania fitted watch sinn ezm1 since then the price shoot up to more than rm10k... the reproduction limited also retail price at rm16k...

any1 here has the experience with lemania 5100? pls share....

5100 was a hot topic about 3 years back when Swatch announced that they stop the 5100 production. Sinn used the last batch of their 5100 calibre they have and fitted them into the Sinn 142 Ti models and sell them as D1 Limited Ed., http://photos-e.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v168/29/74/605903310/n605903310_275964_8861.jpg.

Bell & Ross has "produced" some too, http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc99/croakyfrog/Bell/DSC_0022.jpg. B&R didn't hide the fact it is made by Sinn if u know what I mean :) Other manufacturer like Omega (from 1974 to 1987), Tissot, Fortis and a few others has replaced their chronograph models with 7750 families.

Strangely, Tutima still produces their chronograph using 5100. I love this model, http://tutima.com/en/product_info.php?products_id=51, because of simplicity and with all  functions included. IMO, not having a non-chronograph second hand is a blessing. Above all, I love the central minute hand.

I own Sinn 145 and Fortis Cosmonaut. I find that Fortis has a better built and Sinn has the better look :) Probably, because Sinn has a bigger dial and Fortis is compact.

Oh yeah. It is overpriced given that 5100 is a afforafable workhorse calibre
