Dear shifu!
Please cast your vote to confirm the common outcome.
Thanks.

She can only speaks if she pays the bills :Laughing_on_floor:
-
Mine won't. Probably because she accumulated numerous handbags that value comes close to that figure.
-
Mine doesn't and I think as long as you make your own money and have the family finances well planned out for the future why not?

Yes, @timeless bro. I fully agree with you.
-
To remedy is to bribe her first
-
I will have to write in a bulletproof business case......

Each time I buy a watch for myself, I buy one for my wife (usually a more expensive one). So she is always happy
-
Not if your net worth is 150 million
-
My opinion as a lady
I buy watch with my own money and no single cents from my husband.. so far he ok.. i bought my own stuff and same goes to him.. my watch more than handbag..
Collection:
BR S Golden Heritage
BR S Grey Camouflage
Oris Aquis Date
Tissot T-Race
Laco1925 Osaka

I think she will do more than just strangling me.

Frankly, i believe the sums rm150k or watever figure is relatively different to different family. If ur annual earning is few times above 150k, i don't think the wife will goes crazy mode. Conversely, if the family annual is much less than 150k, then i believe u probably didn't prioritize ur purchases very well. Unless all ur watches collection is for investment purposes. Which probably u won't be enjoying wearing it anyw coz u want to keep it in pristine state.
So, it is relative to the family incomes. The higher u go, the less chance of the missus to gets angry. Coz she'll be pampered enuf or rich enuf not to be bothered by our toys.

I wanted to buy 8k watch, my gf already showing her annoyed face =____= say i didnt save the money

I fully understand. I want to buy Merz then my wife forced me to buy Vios.
The key is my money is still her money.... No matter how much I save and how affordable I can buy the stuffs. :o

Happy Wife, Happy Life. You won't go wrong in life (well, family life anyway) if you abide by your wife, bro Cocas ;D

Try going step by step, bro. If she's not one whom was enthusiastic about watches, go with a watch of a smaller monetary price tag first e.g. start with RM3k, then to RM5k, then to RM8k and so on. Next thing you know, you're buying a RM40k watch and she won't even bat an eyelid cause it has become a norm on your watch purchases. Just make sure that you're using spare monies; the main bulk of your savings and for splurging on her must not be cut down from your watch money.

Thanks Bro & Sis!
Your replies and vote casted are so helpful!
In short, it is about:
1. The financial capability and financial position of the person and the family.

You're damned right bro!
-
I think it's time to start plan-"B"!
-
give and take lo... if u spend rm 150k on watch, then u need to spend rm 150k on her branded stuff (maybe Dior or etc)
-
I have to buy a similar priced item if I want to do that. :'(
-
My wife would not strangle me.... We'll see.
-
150k is alot for most of us msians.... my wife may let me buy (as investment) if the watch will appreciate over time ... but my bigger problem is that i will be too afraid to wear it out, in case kena snatch ...
-
bribe her with some handbags & luxury trips and you will be fine brother haha
-

True, as some watches would be a good investment (not all watches)... and wearing it always would also be scary (dings, etc). You could have a normal watch as a daily wear and wear the luxury watch on special occasion... reducing the chance of damaging the luxury watch.
-
Buy something for her haha maybe a ysl will do
-
150k as an amount is very relative, for some is high for some is low. This goes for the wife's view. Also depend on whether that 150k could have gone somewhere better.
To be fair, if you have 150k lying around doing nothing, sitting in deposit, actually buying some watches are not a bad move - enjoyment + return!
Anyway, as a family all decisions should be make together. If she is really unhappy, then just work it out.
-
She did not succeed. She has small and weak hands.
-
ure getting sometthing to reward ur own hard work, y not?
yes 150k is quite a big lump sum of money, but if u plan it well and explain to her which didnt affect any of ur living expense, y not??
-
Wives will never accept it unless she’s ROSMAH!

My wife buys loads of , in my eyes, useless stuff from the internet yet constantly complains about the price difference between our 300mbits Unifi when comparef to the lower tier, a difference of RM50. Sigh....

My wife is encouraging me to buy the new day date anniversary edition (rose gold green dial).
So I guess she is cool with me spending 150k on a watch.
-
Lucky man.

Better buy her a birkin and few chanels to justify your purchase haha

True, true.

my wife does not know how much i spent on watches????. just keep her in the dark. bought her a rolex too so so far i am safe
-
Haha mine too, she has a general idea of say how much a "normal" Hublot is but not the higher end models. So what she thinks is 30k is actually 3X more! LOL

I should change the title to "....More than RM 260k in watches?"
:o

Lol!

Ya right, me too. When my wife finally notices the watch, I always say that it was bought long long time ago....
-
Well the same logic applies to handbags, how on earth can you justify a 50k bag? I used to operate a apparel factory and I know how to put a bag together. A watch is much more complex and probably justifies the craftsmanship.

Need to buy a lot to confuse her

When it comes to women.. it's all relative. The more you spend the more you'll have to give... period.
-
luckily the wife doesn't know anything about watches. So i've basically halved the prices of my rolexes and reverso! :Laughing_on_floor:
-
Well sometimes its hard for them to justify a bag against a watch, you know.

Just say the watch is gift from other lady,
then she will forget about watch and ask you who is the other lady instead.. focus shift this call

PAM collectors would be safe from the dilemma. To the untrained eye, they are one and the same :Laughing_on_floor:
-
Also true! PAMs do look alike.

If you are comfortably afford to buy it, I don't think they should be any problem. Definitely for sure wife will get something that worth that value as well.
-
I would have to get her a watch of similar value.
-
U need to buy wife 1 if u decide to get a new watch, :Laughing_on_floor:
-
It's all relative, isn't it? If you're only earning 5k a month, of course she'll strangle you. If you're earning 500k a month, it probably wouldn't cause a blip

Nope bro, keep it as fixed deposit saving when you buy watches ;D ;D
-
She never know about the price.
-
Nope, I am a watch collector and she collects Handbags :)
