hi watch people !
« on: November 02, 2011, 05:46:56 PM »
I came upon this site recently while Google some search on watches. Good to know quite a lot of M'sian into watches nowadays.

I use to have an Oris given by my Uncle when i was about 9 years old..fiddle with it..trying out the waterproofing in the fridge...polishing the acrylic etc...until very soon i saw some vapor or 'sweat' inside the watch ! Thats it,the watch died. Until i was about 15 another Uncle gave me a citizen, but was rob shortly after that. My next watch was and Ebel 1911 with diamond bezel at age of 21,that was the time a must have watch on my wrist. The Ebel is still with me today after more than 20years,but i had the battery removed to avoid contamination on the circuit board.
After spending a lot of my free-time and weekends at watch shops,at times its like 6hours hanging out there,to chat them up. Today,i stopped buying quartz after appreciating mechanicals...

Looking forward to read more posting here...keep it up MWF..

After reading the thread from compaq, I / we gathered that he (or she?) is around 35yrs+ and have had spent many good man-hours chatting in a watch shop.

And while we are waiting for Acer / Dell / ISM, etc to sign up, we welcome you to come along to chat with us on your horology experiences.

You have to bear with us here, as we like to poison newbie with more watches venom.

Bless with you good luck to survive the onslaught.

Meanwhile, welcome to MWF.

I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

ha ha...well... its true... i 've seen some friends got influenced from another by tagging along to watch shop.  For start they will, say  " i'm satisfied with my current watch..''  and as time goes by they start by asking.. '' what GOOD watch can i buy with 8,000 "..and he'll tell you this is my first most expensive watch.. later as time goes by..he venture alone to watch shop and pick up much more expensive pieces (that is, if he is financially capable)
I noticed many watch ppl does collect pens as well... am i right...? I also read it in one article few years back,  i does have a small collection of pens...  :-X

Anyway, Thank You guys for the warm welcome here !
