Omega Speedmaster Reduced 3510.50
« on: August 11, 2015, 11:05:21 PM »
i've been looking for an automatic chronograph watch for quite some time, and happily however, i got one at last

but it's a pre-owned unit, there's scratches, signs of aging here and there & the movement needs service

a pre-owned Omega Speedmaster Reduced 3510.50

close up, lume is turning yellowish

another angle

glass is slightly scratched, chronograph hand is not centered, needs service

like the bracelet very much

the characteristic dome glass

side by side with my daily beater

last but not least, a wrist shot, is a 38mm Speedmaster Reduced too small for me? i think it just fine

i was thinking of overhauling the watch, Omega quoted me RM 2k for full servicing (including changing a new glass, crown, pushers, hands & seals) c/w 2 years warranty, and another RM 1k to change the dail & bezel

now i'm considering, should i service & change the dail & bezel to make it totally looks like new? or should i just service the movement w/o changing the dail & bezel, while keeping the aged look of it?

appreciate if anyone can give some valuable opinion & suggestion, and lastly, thanks for viewing.

I would say go for the total package. It's not like you want it to look "vintage". Make it as new as you possibly can and start your own story with the watch.

First of all, congrats on the speedy reduced.
If you appreciate the vintage patina dial, keep it as it is, just service the movement will do.
If you prefer lume then change all. But 3k is a lot of money, as am assuming you purchase the watch ~4k.

I'd just go for a full servicing and leave the rest as it is :D

Service movement only, leave the dial n hands alone, patina is cool

thanks, i got it at a handsome price, it's lower than 4k, i'm willing to invest on it

still in dilemma, a total overhaul feels like buying a new watch from Omega

but the more i look at the aged dail & bezel, the more i like it, it has very classic design, no harm keeping the patina to make it looks vintage

anyway, the bracelet is very dressy looking, really stand out in yellow light

Congrats on your new piece! I bought mine on this year Feb with great condition. But too much wrist time when I go for outstation work because didn't bring other watch for rotation and now hairlines everywhere. After all it is a good piece and also my favorite. :)

Ya, the one in my profile. It suit my wrist well, next target might be Seamaster Professional.

No matter how many time I look at it, it is still a classic piece. Same goes for the professional moon watch.

The Speedmaster model variations is vast but I reckon the handwind Professional Moonwatch retains its value best in the preowned market.

Are you planning to send it back to Omega for servicing? Mind share with us how do they service the movement? I heard they typically just swap the whole piggyback movement with a new one.

How's the watch working now, if you still own the watch?

Did you send to Omega Service centre already or third party service? care to share the experience and cost?
