I doubt we can get it at retail price.
I've asked my Seiko dealer to enquire with Thong Sia.

Supply & demand, exchange rate and inflation. Things like these. That's how it is.
Another reason is market positioning. Perhaps Seiko doesn't want to be pigeon-holed forever as a maker of reasonably cheap and reliable watches. You can see their marketing push of the GS line to increase prestige.

I guess Seiko is a serious contender for watch lovers, and their accessibility makes them much loved. Unlike some other brand which I will not name.

Seiko have plenty to be proud of. They make in-house movements from the beginning and affordable mechanical watches for the masses. Then they have the GS, Spring Drive and, not forgetting, Hi-beat movement.
And in terms of total number of watches sold per year I don't think any other watch makers can beat them with the exception of "Mickey Mouse" watch manufacturers in China.

I agree with bro David here...the latest 300M spring drive diver lists for €5,000. That is crazy money for a spring drive. It is basically GS territory. The newer GS’s are getting bigger and bigger in size. Please bring back sub 40mm watches. I want a big watch, I’d buy something else...

Seiko seem to create larger watches especially for their Prospex lineup. Pricing for the Prospex LX also is more than an Speedy or a Tudor Black Bay. In a day where smaller watches are preferred, I'm not sure if this is the right step taken by Seiko. This speaking from a guy with small wrist size.
