My Humble Collection
« on: March 01, 2011, 07:56:26 PM »
Hello,

I guess it's time for me to share my collection with you guys.
After getting a nice box frm a fellow forumer mnazri.tan, I got to store my watches in a more organized manner.
Juz one picture and I'm no photography expert so I apologize if the pic is not up to MWF standards...
Pic taken using my wife's Sony TX-5.

Upper row frm left to right:

Tissot T-Race Athens Olympics LE.
This watch was my first entry into Swiss timepieces.
Got it when I got my first bonus and still single but spent most on booze and chicks. :Laughing_on_floor:
Should have gotten a better piece but hey, we learn right?

Glycine Combat Manual.
Purchased this frm fellow forumer HusH.
Great watch for daily wear but the only drawback is there's no date.
Might let go of this piece soon.

Zenith El Primero HW.
Got this on January this year when I got my big fat bonus.
A very sleek piece suitable for dinner parties and etc.
The stainless steel bracelet is a letdown quality wise and it's now fitted with a Hadley Roma Genuine Crocodile Strap, still waiting for the incoming original signed Zenith Deployant. Until then, this piece is still incomplete in my book.

Bottom row frm left to right:

Casio G-Shock G1200.
This one I got purely out of luck.
Attended my company's annual dinner last year and I got this one frm the lucky draw.
Other pieces up for lucky draw are some Casio Edifice and Kenneth Cole watches.
Did not know I got a great one until mnazri told me.
And I always thought G-Shocks are for kids...  :o
That's why I did not mention I have a G-Shock to avoid being a laughing stock on the forum.
How naive of me. :P

Seiko Premier SPB001.
This piece I also got this year when I was just discovering how great Seiko actually is.
They might just be the most complete manufacture out there but did not advertise it as such.
I felt I need a piece in my collection and I have to say, no regrets.
Quality and finishings are top notch.

Maurice Lacroix Pontos Rectangulaire Chronograph in Titanium.
Now this piece is actually my 2nd swiss timepiece.
Again, I bought this when I got my 2008 bonus.
My target was a square shaped (trying to get away frm round shape) chronograph with rubber strap and this piece had it all.
Price was steep but I did not care at the time.
The shopkeeper actually advised me not to buy this one but get an Omega instead as it holds better value but my mind was set.
I did not understand why I love it so much.
Bad news is I might let go of this piece soon to fund for my incoming grail.
Unless I strike a jackpot soon.  ;D

Victorinox Swiss Army Ambassador Day Date.
Now this piece is.... impulse buy?
When I first discovered forums like MWF and a thread in LYN talking bout watches, recommendations were aplenty on where to get decent priced time pieces online. I actually bought 2 of these... one in black dial and one is this.
Showed it to my dad (he loved swiss Victorinox watches and is actually wearing a Quartz one and I thought I'd give him a mechanical one as a gift) and asked him to pick one, he picked the black one and I ended up with this.
This I will definitely sell as it is a surplus to my requirements.

Well, that's all for now.
Hope I can update this thread in the future.
Thanks for reading.

An update on my collection though...
The Glycine, Victorinox and G-Shock is sold.
Added a Sinn U1 SDR, Damasko DC67 and Laco Miyota A Dial to my collection...
And bought an Omega Aqua Terra 2500 for my Dad a few month back.

Hi Hanz, I read yr story of acquiring the Zenith, I must say it is , and the feeling is like roller coaster, but finally you can overcome the hurdle, actually feel much excited about getting the watch in the first place...Great job

Envy you got the Sinn and Damasko in yr collections ....have you do the test which is harder??? ;D

Got test like that meh?  ;D
Anyway, no need to test oso can confirm Damasko is harder...
The Submarine steel of the Sinn provides better protection against seawater...
But for scratches, Damasko is I dare to say... the best...
Been wearing it for a few months now and not a single scratch...
I ven tried to scratch it using a screwdriver but no scratch as well...
Have to see it to believe it bro...

Damasko has really surprised me as well.
For the price of the little extra i recommend anyone who wants to get a Damasko go for the extra coating.
Unless you dont like a black case.
