Get the new GMT Master IIc with the black ceramic bezel. Then the pepsi or the Hulk. Next in line would be TT, or solid gold, 41mm Datejust.

So you're new to luxury watch and probably Rolex as well. Some tips:

1. Don't buy a luxury watch because it's presumed to be "collectible" or "rare".

2. Take your time to choose a watch you like, not what others say is the "best" model. Arguably, many will insist a first Rolex must be a Submariner Date or GMT Master II. I liked neither at first and got the Explorer II which nobody likes.

3. Don't believe that you cannot lose money buying a Rolex. The amount you lose is small or large depending on whether you bought it new or used. Even if you buy pre-owned from a dealer, expect to lose at least 10% if you decide to trade it in later, say within a year or two.

Depends on which Pepsi. 16750, 16710 or 16700?

I would choose the 16750 over the LV.

I love the idea of the LV but hate it as a watch. Mainly because there nothing in my wardrobe to match it. :P

The Pepsi is an all out icon. A pilot watch from Rolex so we can't really compare it with the LV which is a pimped modern Sub (but not tacky).

I guess it is best to try to wear both for an extended time (not 5 mins) and compare which one really make you feel " Aaaaaa......" then consider the price and exit strategy. Ultimately what is a watch that rise in value if you don't love it. We only make/lose money if we sell but if you love the watch so much then you won't sell so you make or lose any money  :)

Hope it helps

Regard
Tyler

Contacted the seller, now I think he is hesitant to sell either one...  :Blue:

Might have to drop-by a dealer in Singapore thia Christmas Eve and get a pre-owned unit there

Neither watch is rare. The 16610LV, if that is what you really want, can be found at a good price with patience, likewise with the GMT Master II

Very true, a quick search in Rolex Owners Club Singapore reveals many pre-owned units for sale. A 06/07 LV asking for abt RM20k. Is it worth it? Cos a brand new Sub C ND is abt RM23k.

It's only worth what you are willing to pay. Do you like it enough to pay RM20k for it?

My opinion would be that considering it's about 6 years old, and a RSC service for around RM2-3k, you're getting close to the price for a pre-owned 116610LV, probably with some of the original Rolex 2 year warranty remaining. A much newer watch with a better bracelet and clasp.

my bad.. there is no 116610LV.. it is a 116610V which is green dial with ceramic bezel.

and yes, you cannot get a 116610V at RM20k even if pre-owned. what I intended to say was that a 16610LV at RM20k + RSC service around RM2~3k is getting really close to the price of a pre-owned 116610V.
